We entered all three tollers in WCX yesterday at Regina Retriever Club. Thank you to club members and judges, Patti Kipper and Yvonne Dyck.
Aoife was only one of two dogs left to Q (Aoife's 5th WCX Q, so just for end of year fun) but I was very happy and proud with the work from 2yr old Punch and 17 month old Cott'n.
A few unusual and different happenstance circumstances for Cott'n and Punch on water double. No concerns. 3/8 dogs left for water blind which was very doable for Cott'n and possibly Punch ;) .
Very proud of Cott'n and Punch with their work on challenging land marks.
Cott'n handled very well on land blind, Punch needs a bit more work on whistles and less nosework on his blinds lol đŸ˜„.
Great future for these young dogs!

Missy Cott'n was a good girl today and received her Working Certificate Intermediate title at the Regina Retriever Club, in a fairly challenging WCI test. Thank you judges Lianne Daradics and Peter Joyce.

Cott'n had great land marks! Went long, past the go bird in water (beautiful parallel to shore swim that I didn't want). Heavy cover to handle back in to mark, so a few prayers. She did remember the memory bird. Phew!
Heeling, steadiness, bird delivery was very good. Never had to handle on a mark with Cott'n before, so I was a bit freaked out ;). Whistle sits were good.

75yd water blind. The longest water blind Cott'n has done, at this time. Slight cross wind with island to right and an attractive point to left at end of blind. She handled all small factors very well.
Her biggest water issue is wishing to follow diving terns or shore birds that are dancing around ;).

Back at it today.
Ran a couple blinds with crossing road factor at end of blinds.
In this video, blind was about 65yds. Cott'n popped in long cover (I shall forgive her) at start, curved toward mound to right, but took some good casts. She did try to follow parallel to road on first cast but pushed over on second with my extra casting steps.
She did some nice handling today, a bit less stuck on where she wants to go. Handling is coming along.

Cott'n has started running 'cold' blinds. This video shows a fairly straight forward blind and she does well. Not all go this smoothly.
Wish I had videotaped her last water blind. Thought it was going to be really tough with entry (I was trying not to fall into the muddy shore) and she did really well. An easy water blind confused her when a truck drove by our pond. Funny how training goes!
Cott'n did turn the wrong way on my cast but as she actually took the correct line, I left that alone. More work in yard pattern blinds on turns. She does favour right turns.
'Cold' blind means a duck they have not seen planted or thrown. Hidden from sight.

Cott'n was able to run one Junior Hunt test this year, after coming out of season.
She passed! A lengthy final swim, past two points parallel to shore for the win.
Cott'n also will be applying for her Dobirstein Award when her CKC Certificates arrive.

Punch has his own brag from this past weekend.

Punch qualified in both of his morning entries this past weekend, with scores of 195 & 197 HICs, to finish his Companion Dog Intermediate (CDI) title at the local HCKOC trial. 197 was the highest score achieved by any dog on the weekend. This class is not eligiblefir HIT as it is not a required class, which is understandable, but proud of this sweet boy !

In the last two weeks, Punch has completed the qualifications for his WCI, FTN & CDI titles. We are also awaiting his national breed club (NSDTR CofC) Dobirstein Award.

He is the an amazing, sweet and biddable boy!

Very busy couple of weeks at Featherz NSDTRs !

This past weekend we attended HCKOC obedience trials and all dogs had some success. We have had a couple very busy weeks.

Cott'n (Sneakers x Aoife) received a HIT (highest scoring dog in trial) on Saturday morning and on Sunday morning, she completed her Companion Dog Title (CD). In the afternoons she got to go play field stuff with Mark.

Cott'n now qualifies for the NSDTR Club of Canada Dobirstein Award after receiving her conformation Championship in March, Working Certificate (field) two weeks ago and now her CD title (Obedience). We will apply to National Breed Club once all titles are confirmed with CKC, as well as her Versatility Novice Title thru CKC.
