Stopped at the mailbox after running a couple errands and Cott'n had mail!

At 16 months of age, Missy Cott'n completed her CH, WC & CD, to earn the National Breed Club (versatility for titles in conformation, obedience and a field event) Dobirstein Award!
Good girlie!
-since the submission of titles for this award (certificates from CKC), Cott'n has also received her WCX, FTI and VE)

Congratulations to Benz and owner Karen for completing their Novice Scent title this past weekend at the SKOC Scent Trials!
Benz was previously Smoke Grey in our Laurentian Pencil Crayon litter (Sneakers x Aoife /littermate to our Cott'n). The team is hoping to finish their CD title soon and their Open obedience is coming along very nicely! They are also awaiting Open Scent Work opportunities and Advanced Rally.

Cott'n Figure-Eight heeling. We need a bit faster on outside heeling but coming along well.
Mark and Punch are enjoying the retriever club on another beautiful day, but we chose to stay home and do some obedience/rally work as Cott'n does have some entries coming up this fall.

Cott'n (19 months) is coming along nicely with her heeling and her Open/Utility exercises.
Her coat is growing back in on her previously shaved shoulder area, but I heard that can take a year, so flippy hair mid-back is how it goes ;)!

Although Cott'n did not complete her second WCX on Sunday, she did an amazing job on difficult setups. I called her in on the water blind as we have not worked on our over casts into water, nor much decheating on acute angle entries.
The land marks she nailed, albeit not easy marks! She was very steady with running dog breaking. Very proud!
Land blind was by the gallery on right side and tight to heavy trees/grass/ bushy factors mid way on left side - was not easy - but she accomplished the task.
She did a very good job on water marks, taking the longer land go-bird over the memory splash-bird closer to home plate! Edit - Mark corrected me on go-bird as she had to swim by point on other side and up onto land, which she did well. So, it was a long angle mark that Mark measured at 80+yds. The water blind at 70yds.
The gunner/blind planter was left sitting out for the water blind, which was difficult and then moving her to the right on line made for the parallel to shore issue. Gallery was again along the road shoreline to the right side but I do not think that was the problem. We have not worked on upper concepts -casting off shore, acute angle entries and not running blinds by actual marks and gunners.
I was extremely proud of the work Cott'n did do at 18 months of age. Next year should be a lot of fun with Cott'n and after this weekend, I think SH may be on the menu after we finish her JH! Such a good girl.

Cott'n (dog on right) and Aoife (dog on left) both Qualified in the WCX level at the Labrador Retriever Club of Manitoba tests today.

This is a new WCX title for missy Cott'n and she did marvelous work today! One whistle, small handle just before shoreline, put her on the bird for her water blind to finish the day!

Aoife rec'd her sixth (?) WCX Q for some fun after a long drive.

Sadly, Punch was having some unexpected issues today, possibly the gunner chair blowing over in his last test caused a few more issues than we realized or travelling? We are not sure, but will sort it out. He is still the best, sweetest boy!

Thank you to my kennel club, SKOC, for hosting this event.
Aoife would be ready for Advanced, possibly Cott'n and maybe Punch - but lots of time for more. At least pass rates are higher than obedience lol

We've been very busy the last six days, a couple conformation days, CGN tests, Obedience and Rally Trials.

Punch garnered quite a few GCHB points, Aoife stole a couple more from him but that is okay.

After helping my home club set up for their shows and obed/rally trials on Thursday, Cott'n and Punch entered CGN tests and both passed that evening.

Aoife and I had some ups and downs in obedience ring, Friday and Saturday, but she did come away with High Scoring Retriever Rosette sponsored by the family of a long time SKOC member, Bryan Hudson (Harley Davidson fan) who passed away a few years ago. Thank you to the Hudson family for the beautiful rosette that will join Aoife's wall in training building.

Punch and Cott'n both received their Rally Advanced titles Sunday morning, even with their rusty Rally handler ;) errors but both pulled through with 100s to finish the weekend.

Another Featherz family bonus of the weekend was a littermate of Cott'n, Benz aka Featherz In The Fast Lane RN *PCD, and owner/handler Karen Paulette received their PCD title with 2 Qs and received a HIC from Novice A the next morning, after moving up! Great job!

We entered all three tollers in WCX yesterday at Regina Retriever Club. Thank you to club members and judges, Patti Kipper and Yvonne Dyck.
Aoife was only one of two dogs left to Q (Aoife's 5th WCX Q, so just for end of year fun) but I was very happy and proud with the work from 2yr old Punch and 17 month old Cott'n.
A few unusual and different happenstance circumstances for Cott'n and Punch on water double. No concerns. 3/8 dogs left for water blind which was very doable for Cott'n and possibly Punch ;) .
Very proud of Cott'n and Punch with their work on challenging land marks.
Cott'n handled very well on land blind, Punch needs a bit more work on whistles and less nosework on his blinds lol đŸ˜„.
Great future for these young dogs!
(I did not wear pink for a flamingo hunt scenario)
