🦗 Looks like we had a walk-in with a Special Message!🙏😂

We had a special visitor at Gulf Island Veterinary Clinic —a praying mantis! No appointment needed, no paperwork to fill out, and thankfully, no complaints about the wait time. 😆

We’re used to seeing all kinds of patients, but this one definitely stood out from the crowd! 💚

Often seen as a symbol of patience, mindfulness, and good luck, perhaps this little visitor was reminding us to slow down and appreciate the small wonders around us. ✨

🍄 Mushroom Season Is Here! ⚠️

With the much-needed rain comes mushroom season—and some wild mushrooms can be deadly to dogs! Death Caps (Amanita phalloides) and Deadly Fibre Caps (Inocybe) can cause severe liver damage, even when symptoms aren’t immediately apparent. Signs may be delayed for 6–12 hours or longer.

🚨 Watch for: gastrointestinal distress, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, incoordination, tremors, or seizures.

Suspect your pet has eaten a wild mushroom? Don’t wait for symptoms! Contact your veterinarian or ASPCA Poison Control (888) 426-4435 immediately.

🍄 If safe to do so, collect a mushroom sample, place it in a paper bag (not plastic), refrigerate it, and note where it was found.

A little extra awareness on your rainy-day walks can help keep your furry family members safe! 💚

Fear Free doesn't begin in the exam room—it begins the moment you contact us. 💛

Meet Val, Rachel, and Tina, our Client Care Representatives. As Fear Free Certified professionals, they play an important role in helping every visit start on the right paw, claw or hoof 😉

Whether you're booking an appointment, discussing concerns about your pet's anxiety, checking in for a visit, or simply asking questions, they're here to help create a positive experience for both you and your pet.

Fear Free is more than our way of handling your pet—it's our clinic-wide commitment to reducing fear, anxiety, and stress at every step of your journey with us.

Because caring for your pet's emotional wellbeing starts long before they enter the exam room. 🐾💛

It was a pretty Ruff day! Four puppies. One day. Endless cuteness. 🐾✨

Positive veterinary experiences start young. These little pups visited us for treats, cuddles, learning, and lots of encouragement.

Every happy puppy visit helps build confidence and creates positive associations with veterinary care that can last a lifetime.

We think that's something worth celebrating. 💛

Which puppy would you take home? 🐶👇

Did you know that treats can be one of the most powerful tools in reducing stress during veterinary visits?

By pairing Fear Free handling and procedures with positive experiences, we help our patients feel safer and more comfortable at the clinic. Djuno, was happy to demonstrate the effectiveness of a "pupsicle" and a lot of love! 💗

Fear Free isn't just a buzzword—it's how we help pets build lifelong confidence in veterinary care.
