A big thank you to all the sausage lovers out there who have really made our SAUSAGE SOCIETY LOYALTY CARD program a raving success! So popular, in fact, that we are running out of sausage! We appreciate your patience, and encourage y'all to try out some of our other pork or chicken cuts while we work in the background to restock and have some new varieties made up, but fall is a busy time for butchers, so it will likely be the end of September before we see a restock on our current selections. Stay tuned throughout October for a few new amazing flavours to appear!

Select cuts from our flavourful grass-finished Dexter Beef will be available mid-September and lamb will be restocked in November. We will also have a limited number of turkeys available for the holiday season. Details on that to come in a separate post!

As always, your support or our small farm has been amazing and we appreciate each and every one of you!

All the contents of our meat boxes come from animals raised with respect right here on our small farm, where they spend their days grazing, wallowing, scratching, and sun bathing until harvest time. Our meats are processed at local inspected facilities.

Our last batch of chickens is fully booked! A big thank you to our customers who have ordered chickens this season! Without you, we couldn't do what we do here on the farm! A note for those who have ordered, we have pushed their processing date to Sept. 24 to allow some of the smaller ones to size up. I'll be in touch regarding pick up closer to that date! Get your freezers ready!

Oh gosh! What have I done! I said I’d judge poultry at the Salmon Arm Fair, including 4-H Showmanship! It should be fun, but I dragged my APA book out to study - that’s a lot of info - and now I’m hoping I do justice to the job as these kids put so much work into their projects!

Anyhow, I came on to post that the farmstand will be closed Friday & Saturday this weekend, but we will be open our usual hours on Sunday so come grab some BBQ favs for supper - fall is right around the corner, so get as much outside time as you can!

Our hogs are raised outdoors with lots of room to roam, wallow, and root! They forage for roots, greens, and insects and are supplemented with a balanced feed ration to ensure they are healthy and happy. We feel it’s important that pigs get to be pigs before they are harvested to nourish us.

We have 1 more batch of chickens planned for this summer! Our birds are fed non-gmo ration and are raised at liberty to roost or roam indoors and out, scratch in the soil, dust bathe and feel the sun on their feathers! We strive for birds that average 4-5lbs and we charge $7/lb but there is usually a range to suit your needs. They are scheduled to be processed Sept. 10. Reserve yours now for a deposit of $5/bird.

I saw this quote posted on another site and it immediately gave me pause for thought - the underlying message transcends the obvious difficulty of toting water to a more generalized statement about value. Having just finished reading a thread about farmers gouging at the farmers market and doing some market research on beef prices, since beefcake will be harvested tomorrow after 2 yrs of growing him out, it hit a nerve so I had to share. To summarize my thoughts:

We value things differently when we understand what it takes to produce them.

We’ve decided our ram will be named Elliot. I know, I know, it’s not punny, but it popped into my head one day and when I tried it out loud he immediately responded, so it stuck!
