BC SPCA Shuswap The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable animals and mobilizing communities so animals and people thrive together.

Hey Shuswap!

First off, sorry if we're going to flood your feed a little bit over the next week or so. Lock-In for Love is a pretty big deal for us. It's our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps us continue caring for the hundreds of animals that come through our doors.

We are over halfway to our $11,000 goal and honestly, that's pretty incredible!

We also still have matching funds available, which means every donation made will be doubled. If you've been thinking about donating, there has never been a better time to do it.

To everyone who has donated, shared a post or joined a team, thank you!

We've still got a ways to go, but we are off to an amazing start!

We have some fussy cats in care, including a 16 year old senior and a nursing mom (& weaning babies!) who have developed a taste for only "Whiskas Perfect Portion" wet food.

We would so appreciate donations of any wet cat food, but especially this type 🐾🐈

Okay Shuswap, it's go time!

Starting right now, donations to our Lock-In for Love fundraiser will be matched dollar for dollar until the full $4,941 matching gift has been used.

A huge thank you to Mark Montemurro for making this possible. This is an incredible donation for the animals in our community and a chance for all of us to make our donations go twice as far.

Hey Shuswap!

We've got some exciting news and we need our community's help to maximize it!

An amazing local supporter has offered $4,941 in matching funds for our Lock-In for Love fundraiser.

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday June 17th at noon, every donation made in support of Shuswap will be matched dollar for dollar until the full $4,941 has been used.

That means whether you donate $10, $50, $100, or any amount you can give, your donation will be doubled and help support our important work!

As many of you know, Lock-In for Love is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Donations help support everything from veterinary care and rehabilitation to the animal protection work that often happens long before an animal ever reaches our Centre. Cruelty investigations, evidence gathering, warrants, court proceedings, medical treatment, recovery, and daily care all require significant resources, and every dollar helps make that work possible.

Once the matching funds are gone, they're gone, so if you've been thinking about donating, Wednesday is a great day to do it.

Hey Shuswap Community,

As many of you have likely seen, the work the SPCA is involved in can be tough. It's driven by the reality of the animals that come through our doors and the work that goes into helping them. Behind the scenes, a lot goes into every single animal that comes through our Centre, and that work often isn't visible to the public.

Lock-In for Love is our annual fundraiser that helps our Shuswap Centre keep doing that work. It supports the animals that come into our care by helping provide veterinary treatment, food, shelter, rehabilitation, enrichment, and everything else they need while they are with us. It also helps support the work that often starts long before an animal ever reaches our doors. Animal cruelty investigations involve far more than most people realize. Many cases can take months to resolve and involve gathering evidence, working through legal processes, attending court, and building strong files to help animals get the outcome they deserve. All of that takes significant time, resources, and funding.

We would love to invite the community to take part this year and help us raise funds. The fundraiser runs until June 27, and it’s easy to join through our online fundraising page. Just make sure you select “Shuswap” as your Centre when registering.

Our goal this year is $11,000, and every bit of support helps us get there.

Freya has been waiting, excited and anxious, just waiting for a home that will take her in. A home that will ensure that she is warm and safe and where she will know that her food will always be there come meal time. Even with being so underweight, Freya still is a strong girl. Her people will need to be sturdy! They should also enjoy sloppy kisses. People are her thing, she is not that familiar with other dogs and has had no experience with cats that we know of. She just wants to be someone’s Bestie. Freya would thrive in a home where she was the only pet and could be the center of their world.

My name is Mikey and I'm looking for a new home. An active fun home. I really enjoy people and would love a best friend. I like most dogs but would have to know if we can see nose to nose about things. Walks are on the top of my favourite things list but I can be a bit of a puller at times. I am definitely too much for young kids but tweens and up would be just fine. I must say that I am a great size for travel, not too small and not too big. So if travel is on your agenda, please show me how great car rides can be!
