SAME JETTAJACKS.
A WHOLE NEW HOME.

After more hours than I care to admit, a few colourful words directed at my computer, and enough coffee to keep a small town awake, our new JettaJacks website is officially live.

This wasn’t simply about giving the website a new look. We wanted to make it easier to understand our products, find the right fit for your dog, learn why we design things the way we do and, of course, shop everything we make right here in Canada.

You’ll find a completely rebuilt shop, new sizing and measuring information, easier product navigation, The Barkroom, and quite a bit more tucked throughout.

There will undoubtedly be a button somewhere that decides to misbehave now that I’ve publicly announced this. That’s how these things work. But she’s live.

Have a look around. Let me know what you think. And if you find something I missed, be gentle. I’ve been living inside this website for weeks.

Website Renovations Are Underway! ❤️🐾🐾

We’ve been spending the last couple of days behind the scenes making some major improvements to the JettaJacks website and online store. We’re cleaning things up, making the store easier to navigate, improving product information, and generally making the whole experience a lot better.

We expect to be working on it for another couple of days before we’re ready for the official launch of the updated site.

As you can see, the workload has been gruelling. Some of the crew have apparently reached the point where they can no longer continue. We have been informed that naps, snacks, and significantly better working conditions will be required before further website development can proceed.

Stay tuned. We’re almost there.

Sometimes No Harness Fits Perfectly - Not Even Ours.

Red makes a pretty good example.

At first glance, his Fluid Motion Harness looks fine. Look a little closer, though, and there are things I like about the fit, things I can adjust, and one problem that adjustment alone simply isn’t going to fix.

So, I thought we’d use Red to show you what I look for when fitting a harness, and why the size on the label is really only the starting point.

Sometimes, we need to make the harness fit the dog instead of expecting the dog to fit the harness.

And Sometimes Standard Just Isn’t Going to Fit

Size charts are useful. They’re also just charts.

After years of fitting harnesses, we’ve learned that occasionally the best solution is simply having someone look at the dog. A couple of measurements and a few good photos can often tell us considerably more than a number on a size chart. Where is the chest deepest? How narrow is the neck compared with the body? Where are the front legs sitting in relation to the girth strap? Those little details can make the difference between a harness that technically fits and one that actually works properly.

And sometimes, no amount of adjusting a standard size is going to solve the problem.

Because we manufacture our harnesses ourselves here in Canada, we can also make custom-ordered Fluid Motion Harnesses for dogs whose proportions simply don’t work with our standard sizing. We can adjust individual strap lengths and proportions to build the harness around the measurements of the dog rather than trying to squeeze the dog into the closest available size.

So if you’ve measured your dog, checked the chart, and you’re still scratching your head, send us a message. We can look at the measurements, talk through the fit, and determine whether a standard size will work or whether a custom order would make more sense.

Some dogs simply aren’t standard sizes. Thankfully, their harness doesn’t necessarily have to be either.

So, who’s the guy behind JettaJacks?

Dogs, Northern Ontario, weathered wood, an unreasonable amount of coffee, and a life that took a pretty unexpected turn 13 years ago.

I thought it was probably time I properly introduced myself and shared a little about how JettaJacks came to be, and why it means considerably more to me than simply making dog gear.

Morning, JettaJacks Gang!

I just had this conversation with one of YOU this morning. And yes, I asked permission before sharing it!

I want you to know that when you ask me questions about our gear, I will always give you the most honest answer I possibly can, even when that answer may not result in a sale.

I understand that JettaJacks gear can feel like a bigger investment when your pup is still going through the “I wonder what this tastes like?” stage. No harness is chew-proof, and I would never pressure someone into buying an expensive harness if their young dog is likely to destroy it the moment their back is turned.

However, cheaper gear can sometimes come with another cost. Rough webbing, poor construction and improper placement can rub against a dog’s skin, cut into their armpits and leave them sore or even raw.

Finding webbing that sits in that sweet spot between soft enough to be comfortable and strong enough to do its job was one of the biggest challenges I faced when developing our gear. It had to feel good against the dog without sacrificing strength, durability or safety. This is one of the reasons all our “buttons” are sewn on the outside of our gear.

Sometimes my honest answer may be, “Wait a little longer.” Sometimes it may be, “Let’s find a safer temporary option.” And sometimes it will be, “Yes, your pup is ready for a JettaJacks harness.”

I would rather earn your trust than make a quick sale.

And conversations like this remind me why so many of you have been part of the JettaJacks family for years. ❤️

❤️👣🐾🐾❤️ JettaJacks & Co. Making great stuff, even when the old girl gets cranky.

Well… today our German-engineered serger decided it needed a little spa day. First day back after the long weekend, and she’s acting like she has a hangover.
She’s now broken down and is now sitting there looking expensive while we wait for parts to be shipped. 😂
This machine is pushing 50, which in sewing-machine years is somewhere between “vintage treasure” and “stubborn old goat.” But to be fair, when she’s running, she’s running.
That said… maybe it’s time we start looking at a backup machine, or a new one, or both.
Because nothing says “small business in Canada” quite like trying to keep production moving while your second most important machine waits for a tiny part to cross the country like it’s on a scenic vacation.

Occasionally held together with patience, coffee, and a few words I probably shouldn’t put in a business post.
But we’ll be back humming shortly. 🧵🐾
