A MESSAGE FROM SALT RESCUE REGARDING OUR ADOPTION POLICY

I would like to clarify a few points regarding SALT Rescue’s adoption policy.

1. Our Adoption Interview
We conduct a phone interview that allows us to ask questions and gather information to help determine the best possible match for both the animal and the adopter. Our priority is always the animal’s well-being and finding a suitable, loving home.

2. Our Questions Are Approved by Our Board
Some of our questions may not be what everyone expects, and we understand that not everyone will agree with our process. However, these questions have been approved by our Board and are intended to help us make responsible adoption decisions.

If you are uncomfortable with our questions or adoption process, you may choose to adopt through another rescue. We ask that people be fair and respectful when discussing their experiences with SALT, rather than making exaggerated or misleading statements about our organization.

3. Finding the Right Match Matters
Once an application has been approved, the adoption can proceed. Our goal is not simply to find permanent homes for our animals, but to find the right homes — ones where both the animal and the adopter can thrive together.

4. Please Respect Our Volunteers
If an adoption application is not approved, we ask that you please treat our volunteers with kindness and respect. Every member of our team is a volunteer. No one is paid, and everyone gives their time because they care about animals.

If you are passionate about animal welfare, consider volunteering with a rescue in your community. The need is enormous, and there is no shortage of homeless animals needing help. Sadly, many will suffer or die this winter as the animal rescue system continues to struggle.

5. Our Responsibility to the Animals
SALT Rescue is like every other rescue organization: we depend on volunteers, donations, and community support to continue our work.

Our mission is, and always has been, Saving Animals Lives Together.

We ask for understanding, fairness, and compassion as we continue doing our best for the animals who depend on us. ❤️

TO THE DELIVERY PERSON FOR AWS
PLEASE FORWARD THIS INFORMATION!
WE ARE AWARE OF OUR CAPACITY AND HAVE 2 CLINICS CARING FOR OUR ANIMALS WITH ONE BEING OUR SHELTER VET.

NOTE***********************
WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR 60 CATS TO BE RETURNED AT ONCE!

WE ARE REQUESTING AT LEAST TWO RETURN DATES **********************

Needing FOSTER homes for 11 cats ASAP.
cats. SALT is in the process of requesting the 60 cats be returned to us from AWS. We need to empty our cages for this to happen.

Once returned all cats will be in quarantine for two weeks since we do not know where they have been or if they have been exposed to anything. We will be monitoring them to ensure they are healthy. Once the quarantine is complete, we will be open for adoptions.

Unfortunately, our shelter will have to be closed during this time to allow for proper procedure to take place. HOWEVER, we will be accepting donations (at our back door) and will have adoptions (with cats/kittens in our FOSTER HOMES) during this time. Please call 5197197133 for any questions.

As promised in our October 8th post we have added a link below that shows our detailed vet bill with the total owing in the amount of $52,956.42.

Vet Bill: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11voK61p4uKYpGTd9T-Onr8DfAYQbeP7K/view?usp=drive_link

Our veterinary team and staff have worked exceptionally hard to complete the numerous tests and procedures required within the short timelines provided. These requirements have included diagnostic testing, radiographs, ultrasounds, and other veterinary assessments and treatments.

The extensive veterinary work has resulted in a significant outstanding balance with our veterinarian in order for us to comply with the order we received from Animal Welfare Services.

At this time, we are reaching out to our community for support. As a not-for-profit organization, we rely heavily on donations and community support to provide veterinary care, food, shelter, and other necessities for the animals in our care.

Extreme financial hardship has fallen on SALT Rescue over the past six months while we navigate complying with all orders and restrictions.

As we are working toward the light at the end of the tunnel we are asking our community to consider making a donation toward our outstanding veterinary invoice. Every contribution, regardless of size, will make a meaningful difference and help us continue providing the care these cats require.

Thank you for standing with SALT and supporting the cats who depend on us. We have included the vet bill for your reference.

🚨 URGENT: SALT RESCUE NEEDS YOUR HELP — 60 CATS ARE WAITING TO COME HOME! 🚨

We have just days to reach an arrangement with Animal Welfare Services (AWS) for the return of our 60 cats to SALT Rescue.

This is a heartbreaking situation. SALT has received no information, photographs, or proof that our cats are still alive. As we face this unimaginable uncertainty, our priority is simple: WE WANT OUR 60 CATS HOME, ALIVE.

SALT has worked to comply with multiple orders, including the most recent order involving 30 cats, which resulted in a veterinary bill of almost $53,000. The financial and emotional toll has been enormous.

But throughout this experience, one thing has become painfully clear to me: THERE IS NOT ENOUGH HELP FOR ANIMALS.

We need to rip the bandage off and confront the real problem — the millions of animals being abandoned, left without homes, and euthanized every year. We cannot keep treating the symptoms while ignoring the cause.

Every day, dedicated volunteers drag themselves into shelters and rescue facilities, knowing they may face heartbreaking decisions. Some animals will be transferred elsewhere. Others may be euthanized. The feelings of disappointment, helplessness, and heartbreak have become part of everyday life for far too many people who simply want to save animals.

Animal rescue is in critical condition — and heading toward the ICU.

But unlike a hospital, where doctors provide the treatment, saving animal rescue will require ALL OF US to step up.

Our governments and Animal Welfare Services must prioritize meaningful, organized solutions to animal overpopulation. We need prevention, responsible pet ownership, accessible spay and neuter programs, and support for the organizations working on the front lines.

Small rescues cannot be expected to carry the weight of this crisis alone. They have limited funding, limited resources, and often very little influence over the decisions that affect the animals in their care.

The burden cannot continue to fall on the very people who are trying desperately to help.

Euthanasia is not the solution to overpopulation. Targeting rescues that are doing their best to help animals is not the solution either.

WORKING TOGETHER IS.

Sadly, some organizations see other rescues as competition rather than partners in a common cause. Imagine what we could accomplish if we put those differences aside and worked together to save lives!

There is an old saying: “The fish stinks from the head down.”

If we want meaningful change, it must start at the top. Our government must do better. We need leadership, accountability, and a real plan to address animal overpopulation and support the rescues fighting this battle every day.

We cannot keep asking small, volunteer-run rescues to solve a crisis they did not create and cannot solve alone.

❤️ RIGHT NOW, SALT’S PRIORITY IS BRINGING OUR 60 CATS HOME ALIVE. ❤️

We have only days, and we desperately need your help.

🐾 CAN YOU FOSTER? A temporary home could make an enormous difference.

🐾 CAN YOU ADOPT? Opening your home to a cat means another life can be saved.

🐾 CAN YOU DONATE? Every dollar helps us provide the care and resources these animals need.

🐾 CAN YOU SHARE THIS POST? Please help us reach people who may be able to help.

These 60 cats are counting on us. We need our community to stand with SALT now, more than ever.

Please don’t wait. THESE CATS NEED US, AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

Let’s bring them home. Let’s save lives. And let’s demand a better future for all animals. ❤️🐾

PLEASE SHARE. PLEASE HELP. PLEASE STAND WITH SALT.

💕 Meet Honey & Cricket — A Beautiful Mother-Daughter Duo! 🐾

Honey and Cricket are looking for a loving home where they can stay together and continue their journey!

🐱 Honey — The Sweet, Curious Mama

Honey is happily retired from motherhood and is ready to enjoy the good life! You’ll often find her perched by a window watching birds or enjoying videos of birds and critters on TV. She’s a girl who appreciates the simple pleasures! 🐦📺

Honey is learning to love snuggles, and when she’s not relaxing, she enjoys playing with her toys and showing off her adorable little wiggly bum as she plays and hunts! 😂 She has a calm, quiet personality but loves exploring the house, checking out all the high and low spots.

With her beautiful colours and incredibly soft, long fur, Honey is as gorgeous as she is sweet! ❤️

🐾 Cricket — The Shy Little Tortie

Cricket is a little more reserved around people, but she’s slowly learning to trust and is warming up to being held. With patience and love, her confidence continues to grow.

She loves wrestling and playing with her mum and foster siblings, but she’s also happy to sit back quietly and observe the world around her. Cricket is an expert at finding the coziest sleeping spots and knows when it’s time to take a little break and enjoy some alone time.

She’s a typical tortie girl, and her unique personality is just beginning to shine! 🖤🧡

💕 Honey and Cricket are a lovely pair who deserve a home of their own. With a little patience, a lot of love, and a cozy place to call home, these two will continue to blossom.

Could you be the special person they’re waiting for?
