Penny Lane Farm Sanctuary

A not-for-profit sanctuary for at risk equines and farmed animals located east of Ottawa. Our goal is to provide a safe haven and protect them for life.

Penny Lane Farm provides sanctuary for over one hundred and fifty rescued animals and birds, including horses and farmed animals at risk of being sent to slaughter as well as those that have suffered abuse and neglect. Through community involvement and education, we aim to promote compassion and kindness towards all farm animals. For more information, email us at [email protected]

It seems that Pepper, our rare twin geep (sheep/goat cross) prefers the company on his sheep side, llike Elsa and Steve here

on an aside, Steve has arthritis and we would like to have him sent to CHUV, University of Montreal, and will need to see if we could raise funds to support him.

What a wonderful day at Penny Lane! 💚

Our Open House was a big success, and so much of that is thanks to these amazing volunteers. Their hard work, warm welcomes, and love for the animals made it an enjoyable and meaningful experience for the many visitors who joined us.

We’re so grateful to our Care Team—including those missing from this photo—for the time, energy, and heart they give to the sanctuary.

Thank you for helping us share what Penny Lane is all about: a place where animals are safe, valued, and free to just be. 🐾

After losing his beloved Eleanor, elderly Rigby (right) found companionship again with Poppy, who needed refuge from bullying ducks. She found safety, and he found someone to share his twilight years

We are absolutely amazed — and deeply touched — by the response to our post. ❤️

A wonderful home has now been found for these particular little guys, but we are constantly hearing about birds and animals needing somewhere safe to go. Sometimes, much as we would like to, Penny Lane simply doesn’t have the room.

Over the next day or so, we’ll be personally answering each of your messages and emails. We’d also like to start putting together a network of caring people who might be able to offer a safe home when we cannot. There would never be any obligation — just an occasional message when an animal needs help.

And already there is another little soul waiting: the Ottawa Humane Society currently has a fancy pigeon looking for a home. 🕊️❤️

Sometimes we may not have the space — but together, perhaps we can still help them find their way home.

Update: The response has been amazing, thank you. I will be forwarding them to the owners.

We were approached to take in three bonded lovely farm animals, but we currently
may not be able to do so

We have had people ask us if we rehomed or adopted out animals in the past. If you think
you would be interested, contact us for more imformation, thanks

Friendships happen differently here. ❤️

No one told Richard the rooster and Mitzie the pig that they weren’t supposed to be friends. Here, friendships cross species, size and age. They simply find each other — and somehow, it works.

Roosters are brave little guys, they will protect their hens at the cost of their own lives. I think Richard also thinks Mitzie needs protection, and is just going about providing it for her, as a rooster should

P.S. A small thought: if everyone who liked — or even just viewed — this post sent an etransfer to [email protected] or made a donation through our website for just $10, it could sustain the sanctuary and everyone who calls it home for a month or more.

Sometimes a lot of small kindnesses can do something very big. ❤️

To all the volunteers who have stood with us during the hard times, to the volunteers who answered our call for help when we needed it and to the new volunteers who have joined our Penny lane Farm family, a big thank you, we wouldn’t be here without you.
