It's Black Cat Day!

Did you know that black cats are melanistic? Just like black jaguars and leopards, solid black cats carry a gene that overproduces dark pigment. Many of them are tabbies in disguise! Just like you can see a black jaguar or leopards spots in the sun, sometimes you can see hidden tabby stripes on their legs.

We have lots of these special felines at Fundy Animal Hospital. Purrsonally, I think they are the best kind of cat (certainly not because I have one, or anything). Show off your black cats down below!

We all know them as Doctor Tompkins and our lab dog Rosie, but at the end of the day, they are just a man and his very best friend.

Today marks 15 years of friendship, of long walks after work to decompress, of guarding our lab, of beach walks and laying in the sun.
