Maisie is back to school for some training during her teenager years 🤪

IYKYK.

It’s very typical to see some skills and behaviour regression during your dog’s adolescent phase (read: selective hearing and newly found independence). But it doesn’t mean the sweet puppy you brought home is gone forever!

We’re refreshing Maisie’s skills and troubleshooting where necessary to get back on track.

Our hikers are busy enjoying all the spring smells & critters! ✨🌲

With the warmer weather (hopefully) on the way we have 1-2 spots for more dogs to join in on the fun! We are currently looking to fill:
- a weekly hike slot on Mondays (flex timing)
- a bi-weekly hike slot on Thursdays (mid-morning)

There is potential for other spots to open up as we finalize our schedule, reach out if you’re looking to add some more enrichment & fun to yours dogs week! ❤️‍🔥

We're excited to be introducing a new "Impulse Control" small group class mini series!🥳

Impulse control is often described as a dog’s ability to “pause” or delay gratification, but in reality, it’s not about willpower.

It’s about learning.

Environment, reinforcement history, and clear communication all play a role in whether a dog can make thoughtful choices instead of reacting in the moment. When we understand that, we can stop expecting dogs to “just know better” and start teaching them how.

In this Impulse Control Mini Series, we’ll focus on practical, force-free strategies that actually build these skills without frustration.

You’ll learn how to:
• Create training setups that set your dog up for success (instead of constant correction)
• Teach clear default behaviours around exciting or challenging situations
• Use release cues and structured exercises like back-chaining
• Rethink cues like “leave it” in a way that supports learning
• Understand how your dog’s environment impacts behaviour

This class is ideal for:
🐾 Puppies learning life skills
🐾 Adolescent dogs with big feelings and fast reactions
🐾 Dogs who struggle with jumping, pulling, grabbing, or overexcitement

📅 March 29th AND April 12th (This is a TWO part class!)

Gus came into his first session bold, curious, and ready to take on the world. He’s the kind of puppy who jumps into new experiences with enthusiasm, which is beautiful to see. But with that enthusiasm often comes high arousal, quick energy spikes… and a lot of teeth.

Puppy biting can really get to you. The grabbing at sleeves, the sharp little nips at hands, the sudden zoomies that end in mouthing. It’s easy to feel frustrated. But biting isn’t misbehaviour, it’s communication.

Puppies use their mouths to explore the world. Their teething, and sore gums increase the need to chew and relieve soreness.

They can become overstimulated when there’s too much excitement or activity.

They can get frustrated when they want access to something, movement, a person, a toy, and don’t yet have the skills to cope.

Play arousal rises quickly, and with it, mouthing often increases.

Overtired puppies also struggle with impulse control, and biting can spike when they actually need sleep.

And sometimes? They’re simply under-stimulated and looking for engagement.

Understanding the “why” changes how we respond.

For Gus, our main focus right now is:
✨ Teaching appropriate outlets for his energy and chewing needs
✨ Preventing rehearsal of hard biting
✨ Watching arousal levels during play and stepping in early
✨ Supporting healthy rest before he becomes overtired

Confidence is a gift, and now we help Gus learn how to channel that confidence into thoughtful, regulated behaviours that will serve him long term. 🐾

Please join us in welcoming our newest little learner, Rosie.💛

Rosie has just started her journey with our In-Home Puppy Package, and we’re so excited to support her as she finds her paws in the world.

Every puppy comes with their own unique things to work through. For some, it might be puppy biting, struggling to sleep through the night, toilet training hiccups, or learning that hands and clothes aren’t chew toys. Others may need help with focus, calmness, or learning how to settle.

For Rosie, our main focus is building her self-confidence and trust in us and her environment. Confidence is the foundation for everything else. Without it, skills like recall, loose lead walking, calm greetings, and settling in new spaces simply can’t exist in a reliable way.

Each puppy starts at their own pace and for Rosie, this means:
✨ Moving gently and thoughtfully
✨ Creating positive, successful experiences
✨ Celebrating the small wins
✨ Building trust before asking for more

We’ll be working on helping her feel safe, capable, and understood, because when a puppy feels confident, learning becomes joyful.
