August is 𝗜𝘁𝗰𝗵𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, and sometimes the signs that your pet is uncomfortable aren’t as obvious as you might think.

Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Frequent scratching or chewing
👅 Excessive licking — especially the paws
👂 Repeated ear scratching or head shaking
🔴 Red, irritated or inflamed skin
🐕 Hair loss or thinning patches
😣 Rubbing their face or body against furniture

An occasional scratch is normal — but if your pet seems to be itching, licking, chewing or scratching more than usual, there may be something else going on.

Persistent itching can be caused by several things, including:
🐶 Environmental or food allergies
🐱 Fleas and other parasites
🐶 Skin or ear infections
🐱 Dry or irritated skin

And while scratching may seem like a small problem, ongoing irritation can lead to inflammation, hair loss, sores and secondary infections.
