Everyone’s wearing green this weekend, but for us, the connection to Northern Ireland goes a lot deeper than a pint. ☘️
This photo is a piece of our soul. It’s the Limavady/Derry area of Northern Ireland where my grandparents were raised. That grit and that history are the literal DNA of Little Chief & Co. 🐺
In Limavady, which translates to “Leap of the Dog”, there’s a 5th-century legend of a wolfhound who jumped the River Roe to warn his chieftain of an ambush. He gave everything to save his leader. That kind of fierce, unwavering loyalty is a hell of a thing to live up to.
When we started this, we didn’t just want to “open a store.” We wanted to build a brand that actually honoured that spirit. That story isn’t just family folklore; it’s our operational blueprint. Our grandparents didn’t cut corners, and because of them, neither do we.
How that heritage dictates our day-to-day:
🛡️ The Vetting: If a product isn’t ethically made or doesn’t meet a “noble companion” level of quality, it doesn’t get past our front door. Period.
🛡️ The Intentionality: We take massive pride in those Derry roots. That means old-school honesty with every brand we partner with. If they don’t value the animal or the planet, they aren’t for us.
🛡️ The Bond: We treat every dog that walks in like the loyal protector they are. They deserve the best we can give them, not just what’s convenient.
As we head into St. Paddy’s weekend, we’re not just celebrating a holiday. We’re honouring a legacy and a bond that goes back centuries.
Erin go bragh. 🇮🇪
