This week for RVT appreciation month we are featuring Elise! We shared some action shots earlier this week, here are some photos of Elise when she's not at the clinic and she is home with her fluffy (and crustacean) friends!! The handsome extra warm boy is Chewy, followed by Inky, and her four cats Gritty, Wanda, Pepperoni & Arya!! Last but certainly not least, COCONUT🥥🦀!!!

Can you introduce us to your pets?

💝My house is full of animal friends! 4 cats: Arya who shares a special bond with my 11 year old human kid; Gritty, our resident TriPawd; Pepperoni, our shy but too-clever-for-his-own-good kiddo; and Wanda, who loves making biscuits! 2 doggos: Chewy, our sweet senior shih-tzu man who loves a soft bed near one of his favourite people; Inky, our newest fun-loving lady who never passes up an opportunity to play with kids, cats, and Chewy. A Jumbo purple-pincher hermit crab: Coconut loves to watch cats from his 75 gallon aquarium in our living room. 3 Betta fish (Citron, Ginger, and Tiresias) who each have their own 20+ gallon tank, and school of ember tetras who live in a 15 gallon planted tank habitat.

What would you say your greatest strength is as an RVT?

💝One of my strengths is curiosity, I'm constantly seeking to learn something new to enhance the care I can provide to patients and people!

What is your favourite canine breed?

💝 I can't pick just one, but I have a special soft spot for Boston Terriers and Shih Tzus!!

Next up on our RVT celebration tour is Elise! Elise has been a part of our team for the past 2 years and has been an RVT for over a decade. Elise is very passionate about continuing education and the advancement and support of her fellow RVTs, being an instrumental board member of the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT). Elise is also our resident zoo keeper with 4 cats and 2 dogs currently part of her happy fur and fur-less family. Elise can always be counted on for encyclopedic knowledge of veterinary medicine, with some knowledge stretching back to before she was even an RVT! Her knowledge and incredible clinical skills (not to mention goofy humour) are always a huge benefit to all of the people and pets of the Lock One family.

Thanks Elise for your tireless care for your fellow RVTs and all of our special patients!😸

We are fundraising for Farley this month! We are excited to share we are offering two raffle prizes to two lucky winners this October🏆. We are so fortunate to have this amazing charity to assist with the costs of essential, non-elective care for pets belonging to seniors, individuals living with disabilities, and low-income families😸💙.

This week for RVT appreciation month we are featuring Courtney! We shared some action shots earlier this week, here are some photos of Courtney when she's not at the clinic. Courtney has 4 furry children, Georgia🐕, who she adopted from the shelter that she worked at in 2016. She was born at the shelter and was there for her and her siblings birth! Astro🐕, who she adopted as a tripod rescue from Mexico in 2020. Penelope🐱, who was adopted through her last workplace as a kitten. Last but not least, Persephone (Persy)🐱 who she got through her husband's coworker as he always wanted a black cat!!

We also got the exclusive with Courtney and asked some questions for you to get to know her!

🪼Why did you become an RVT?
I wanted to be able to work hands on with animals while also being able to advocate for animal welfare.

🪼What's your favourite thing about being an RVT?
Being able to be in multiple roles throughout the days. Not one day is the same as the last.

🪼What are you the best at doing as an RVT?
Blood collection!

🪼What is one thing you'd like to be better at?
Making and interpreting blood smears.

The Lock One team is so proud of our amazing team member, Susie, who has just started her first year of veterinary school at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph!🎉🐾 Susie has spent the past 4 summers as an Animal Care Attendant with our team and her kindness, humour and humility have made us all look forward to her return at the end of every school year.🩵

We know she will do great at vet school and now we are all counting down the days until she triumphantly returns as Dr. Susie, but we cannot be more proud of all she has already accomplished!🎉🩵 🩺YAY SUSIE
