The HI-Rossburn - 9 Finger Ranch Hostel is situated amidst rolling hills and lakes in a rural setting, offering a stunning view up to the Riding Mountain National Park. We offer a personalized horseback riding experience on our working cattle ranch in Rossburn, Manitoba or within Riding Mountain National Park with our licensed and experienced guides. Affiliated with Hostelling International, we have two cabins with each 10 beds are ready for bookings available.

WEEKLY RECAP - October 10 to 16
1️⃣ Riding at home comes with gorgeous views!
2️⃣ Harvest time! We have tons of tomatoes … now to ripen in the house (we kind of have a dedicated tomato room inside now 😂)
3️⃣ Eli filed a complaint about Ally stealing his bun … Ally doesn’t even like or eat buns by the way
4️⃣ Two helpers watching the horses coming home, trying their very best not to chase them.
5️⃣ Third ‘real’ ride for Moony, she’s so calm, it’s almost scary 😆
6️⃣ King kept a snack for later!
7️⃣ Somebody perfected the sad puppy face to get food from the table (yes, he wins, of course)
8️⃣ Beautiful sunrise one morning
9️⃣ A wonderful day spent in the saddle on the Boundary Trail in Riding Mountain National Park

One very eager pony 😆 since we started working with her more, Moony ALWAYS stands at the gate and is like “ME TOO”. Big disappointment when it’s not her turn. Unfortunate for us, she has in the meantime also figured out how to push the gate open, so sometimes she still shows up at the hitching post unexpectedly if we don’t close it properly 😂 She’s definitely a smart little lady 🥰

WEEKLY RECAP - October 3 to October 9
1️⃣ A Half-Day ride in Riding Mountain National Park with the most gorgeous colors
2️⃣ Ventured to see the bison at Lake Audy (no horses involved 😄)
3️⃣ Coco is the weirdest dog on this planet
4️⃣ Another wonderful fall ride on the ranch …
5️⃣ … kind of forgot to take pictures this week, so here’s the same ride again …
6️⃣ … and again 😂 but well, it’s pretty!
7️⃣ Still working on the apples we got a couple of weeks ago; the horses are still enjoying them, and Eli thinks they’re little balls to play 😅
8️⃣ Lots of hunting around the area at the moment; Ally doesn’t like shooting and stays very close to us ... very cute!

WEEKLY RECAP - September 26 to October 2
1️⃣ Gorgeous fall ride to Tilson Lake campsite
2️⃣ Striker was happy that he could come along too (he was injured for a while)
3️⃣ The colors were just sooo pretty!
4️⃣ Snowman says hi
5️⃣ We had the funniest tree in the yard
6️⃣ A big group came for a ride
7️⃣ Daily burr removal … not much fun, but kind of cute with Moony as supervisor
8️⃣ Last ride for Felina
9️⃣ Another ride on Boundary Trail
🔟 There’s relaxed horses and then there’s Apache who falls asleep with his hind foot on the hoof stand 😂
1️⃣1️⃣ And Moony thinks that hoof cutting is really great. She can finally be in someone’s bubble without hearing complaints about it 💯

WEEKLY RECAP - September 19 to 25
1️⃣ Repeat customers are always a good sign - lovely evening ride with very curious cows and good company.
2️⃣ A busy day with a 2-hour ride at home …
3️⃣ … followed by a 2-hour ride in the national park. The Boundary Trail Ride becomes one of our favorites in fall! 🍂
4️⃣ The horses are still enjoying the apples donated by a friend … delicious! And very, very slobbery and sticky all over!
5️⃣ Just a happy little Coco. No wonder her nickname is ‘nuts’ 😂
6️⃣ First ride outside of the round pen for our 3-year-old Moony 🧡 She’s such a sweet and easy-going girl
7️⃣ One more time supper at the lake before the golf course closes for the season. Always a highlight for the dogs who love a little trip!
8️⃣ Smarties & Felina exploring a new (to them) trail in Riding Mountain National Park … great ride!
9️⃣ Poor dogs need to share one pillow … not that they have like 5 other cushions throughout the house 🤨
🔟 And Drifter, our grumpy grandpa, is still enjoying his occasional ride 🥰. Always fascinating how much power that guy still has at 27 years!
