Rocky Organization for Animal Rescue

Rocky Organization for Animal Rescue R.O.A.R. Society is a non profit animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of abandon, unwanted, neglected and/or abused animals in our local communities.

Rocky Organization for Animal Rescue Society is a Provincially & Federally registered, incorporated not for profit society that currently operates a successful animal rescue business based out of Rocky Mountain House. Society takes in, cares for and/or rehabilitates stray/unwanted/abused animals with the main focus being on cats and dogs. The group then re-homes these animals back into suitable, p

ermanent homes. Our Society is a no kill rescue and we are very happy to announce that we are the proud owners of a our very own shelter facility! We continue to operate solely through our volunteer and foster home network. All operating funds currently are limited to public fundraisers and donations. The Society was founded in 2004 by Leah Marshall when she seen a need for a solution for the abandon/stray animal population in the town of Rocky Mountain House and surrounding communities. Originally based and serving in the town of Rocky Mountain House the group is now serving all the out lying communities in the area as well. To date our Society has rescued well over 1000 animals with a 98% re-homing/adoption rate. also provides support to anyone who may have lost/found pets by helping provide temporary homes, additional numbers and information to assist in the safe return of the animals in question. To date we have helped countless dogs and cats find their way back to their owners when they have become lost. advocates for responsible pet ownership in the community and surrounding areas by providing spay/neuter information and other pet ownership education, as well as they offer a refund incentive to people who spay and neuter their animals at the local vet clinics. The group also works with local Victim Services and the Woman's Shelter when they have cases involving animals in need and are in close contact with Town Council to maintain a good channel of communication with the By-Law Officers. In addition to the above, we also run a program called the S.A.F.E. Project, (Sundre Animal Foster Expansion Project) in the town of Sundre in Mountainview County to assist with unclaimed animals picked up by the Town of Sundre's Animal Control Officer. We will always continue to house animals as much as possible with volunteer foster homes until someone adopts them. All animals are spayed or neutered, have a full vet check, and receive their first shots and a booster before going to their new homes. We have a 10 day holding period on all animals, if at the end of that 10 days the animal remains unclaimed then ownership is considered to be forfeited and the animal is then put through it's necessary medical work and placed up for adoption.

Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!

Apparently today is National Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, and honestly if you've ever owned an orange cat you know they deserve their own day.

Orange kitties have some of the most unique personalities. Did you know that 80% of orange kitties are males. And that all of them are technically a tabby even if their stripes aren't obvious. They can have everything from pale cream coats to deep red. The variation in coat colours comes from the predominance of a certain pigment known as pheomelanin. That is the same pigment that produces red hair in humans!

Show us your ginger kitties in the comments!

Gregory had gone to a foster to adopt home and now is missing! If anyone has seen him please get in contact with us. We are very worried about him. He has grey medium length hair but recently had a lion cut that is slowly growing back.

Look who’s growing up! We just introduced you to Squeak and Meep a couple weeks ago and since then they have already grown so much.

You’d never know these boys had such a rough start. They are happy, confident, ridiculously affectionate little guys.
Meep is the cuddle bug. If there’s a lap available, he’s going to find it. He’s convinced he belongs in your arms. Squeak is his playful counterpart. He’s curious, adventurous, and always ready to investigate. But once he’s finished exploring, he’s right back on your lap for a nap.

These brothers are such amazing kittens, we would love to find some families that would cherish them as much as we do. If you are interested in meeting these sweet boys please fill out a preadoption form and we will be in contact.

Meet Gregory

Gregory is a sweetheart, comedian and depending on the moment kind of jerk! He is one of those cats that you're going to have to meet to full understand. He loves his people and wants all the attention but also has just enough attitude to keep you on your toes. If Gregory decides your his person, prepare yourself! You're either about to get an aggressive amount of affection or become his new play toy. And yes, he does give love nibbles if he thinks you aren't paying full attention.

Gregory came to us after spending some time out as a stray, where he had been pretty badly beaten up and arrived with a serious abscess that needed some care. After some time to heal he quickly realized that the indoor life is pretty good. These days he is much more interested in a cozy blanket, lounging on the cat tree, chasing his toys and killing house flies.

He definitely has a personality of his own. Gregory may occasionally remind you that he is still a cat, which means part menace, but underneath is just a boy who wants to be involved in whatever his people are doing. If you are interested in meeting this crazy boy please fill out a preadoption form and we will be in touch. https://forms.zohopublic.com/theroarsociety/form/PreAdoptionForm/formperma/Q5HcAVT3miF2Dx9wpLL3rWNkgQLuBOplpAKZY0SUKec

FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR A 12 WEEK OLD PUP

The shelter is full! But we don't want to be the reason this little one doesn't get a the chance she deserves. This sweet girl is currently recovering at the vet with some head trauma but should be able to finish her recovery in a foster home. For the next couple of weeks she doesn't need much but a quiet, calm place to rest and heal.

We will provide everything she needs to thrive. You just provide the safe space and love! If this sounds like your home, please send us a message.

When they were only a couple of weeks old, Meep, Squeak, and their third sibling were grabbed by a dog. Tragically, their little sibling didn’t survive. But these two fighters did!

Meep is the definition of a cuddle bug. Raised by people from a very young age, he’s convinced he’s your baby. The second you sit down, he’s ready to melt into your lap or your arms. He adores people, gets along beautifully with other cats, loves dogs, greets you every morning, and even comes when called.

Squeak is just as affectionate but adds a playful, adventurous spirit to the mix. He’s confident, curious, and always excited to explore somewhere new. Whether it’s meeting new people, other animals, or even toddlers, Squeak takes it all in stride. After a day of adventures, he’s happiest curled up in your lap for a well-earned nap.

If you’re looking for two affectionate, social, and endlessly entertaining companions, Meep and Squeak might just be your perfect match.
