😻 Introducing the most handsome gentleman around… HODGE! 💚

This chatty, affectionate 2-year-old was trapped by our team after hanging around the perimeter of the RAPS Cat Sanctuary for weeks. He was an unneutered stray, but it didn’t take long for Hodge to steal everyone’s hearts!

Hodge is the sweetest boy, a total chatterbox, and the most endearing father figure to the young kittens in our adoption room. 🥹💕

Hodge needs a kitty companion! He must be adopted into a home with another cat or alongside a feline friend.

While Hodge is a lovebug, change can make him anxious, and he may give a little nip when overstimulated. A calm, predictable home with older children only would be ideal for this handsome fellow.

🏡 Hodge is currently in foster care! Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a meet-and-greet.

Could Hodge be your new best friend? ❤️

In this week’s blog post, volunteer Brigid Coult introduces Ursula, a 7-year-old girl who was transferred into our care from a rescue partner in Kamloops 6 years ago. She was among many colony cats living in very unsafe conditions… this is a common way cats who now call the sanctuary forever home, come to us. 🐾

“The Double Wide deck at the Cat Sanctuary is an ideal halfway home for cats emerging from cages (spay/neuter, vaccinations, assessment) who may not be ready for the big world outside. For some, the halfway home becomes a permanent one, with only occasional outings.

Tiny-tabby Ursula has been with us more than six years and is just starting to accept that humans are not out to get her!”

Sponsor Me Wednesday - Jim 🐾

Jim is everyone’s best boy! He came to the Sanctuary in the summer of 2019 with his bonded buddy Frank, both FIV cats from Alberta, both wary – but they soon settled in the Val Jones pen and became known as Frank’n’Jim. Sadly, we lost Frank within a couple of years, but Jim has so much love to give that he just continued to give out all the snuggles and purrs he’d shared with his buddy to all the other Val Jones cats. 💚🩵

He coaxed grumpy Magnus into snuggling with him under the heat lamp; he determinedly courted shy Minuet so that she gave up hiding and fully joined the colony; now he is often found sharing cuddles with bossy Captain Jack. In many ways, he would be the perfect cat to adopt out, but he has a chronic cold we need to monitor. And he is the social glue for this sweet group of cats – he loves his friends, and they greatly benefit from his perseverance and his love.

More than 150 cats, kittens and pregnant mothers needed help.
But no two needed exactly the same thing.

Hyatt arrived injured and in need of veterinary treatment and surgery.
Sierra was pregnant and needed something entirely different: safety, quiet and a foster home where she could give birth and care for her kittens.

That is what rescue looks like at RAPS.
Not one answer for every animal — but the right answer for each animal.
Your support helps make the next step possible, and the one after that.
