WE’RE LOOKING FOR EVENTS TEAM VOLUNTEERS ACROSS EASTERN ONTARIO!

From Kingston to Cornwall, up to Ottawa and its surrounding communities, west to Renfrew, and everywhere in between, we need YOU to help bring our village to life! 🏡

Our community events do so much more than raise funds. They bring people together, introduce adoptable animals to potential families, spread awareness about rescue, and help us build the connections that make saving lives possible.

And none of it happens without our incredible volunteers! ❤️

As an Events Team Member, you’ll help bring our community events to life, from preparing supplies and setting up booths to meeting fellow animal lovers and representing our rescue!

⏰ The estimated time commitment is just 6–8 hours per month, including event preparation and volunteering at events.

You raised an INCREDIBLE $927.44 in product donations!

What an incredible show of generosity from the Arnprior community! A HUGE thank you to everyone who stopped by Pet Valu Arnprior to help us Cram the Cruiser with much-needed food and supplies for local rescue animals! 🥹💕

Every bag of food, every donation, and every act of kindness helps make life a little brighter for animals waiting for their second chance.

We are incredibly honoured and grateful that It Takes A Village Dog Rescue was chosen as one of the lucky recipients of these wonderful donations! 🐶🐱❤️

An ENORMOUS thank you to our amazing friends at Pet Valu Arnprior for organizing and hosting this wonderful initiative! We have a long list of dogs desperately waiting for their chance to come into our Village. But without open foster homes, we simply cannot say YES to them 🥺

🎃🐾 A little Halloween magic, a whole lot of adorable faces, and a Village full of love!

To everyone who joined us for Halloween Pet Pictures at Global Pet Foods Orleans, THANK YOU! 🧡 We absolutely loved seeing so many wonderful animals and their families come out to support the dogs and cats in our care!

We had some very special visitors, including our beloved Village alumni Muffin (now Enzo), Amber (now Peanut), and Hugo (now Bear)! 🥹❤️ Seeing our former villagers thriving with their forever families will never get old. Thank you for bringing them back to visit us!

And can we talk about the incredible variety of adorable guests?! 🐶🐱🦎

A huge thank you to Pumpkin the cat, Rocky the bearded dragon, Zeus and Stormy, Mocha, Lucy, Ella, Summer and Duncan, Gilligan, Millie, Winnie, and Winston! You all made our Halloween celebration extra special, and we’re so grateful to your families for bringing you out!

This little Pomeranian has a personality all his own and a wonderful softer side to share. He’s hoping to find someone who knows that the best friendships don’t always happen overnight. ❤️

🎂 Age: 6 years
📏 Size: Small (1–25 lbs)
🐕 Breed: Pomeranian
💛 Temperament: Independent, sensitive and opinionated; loyal and affectionate once comfortable
🏠 House Trained: Yes!
🎾 Activity Level: Enjoys outings and relaxing at home
🐶 Dogs: Good with small dogs; large dogs can overwhelm him
🐱 Cats: Yes
👧 Kids: Adults only
🏡 Home Requirements: Calm, structured home with an experienced Pom owner who respects his boundaries. Vocal, so no apartments.

Monty loves heading out to markets, going for car or boat rides, and spending time with his favourite human. Back home, he enjoys following his person around, hanging out in the yard and curling up beside them for couch snuggles. 🥰

🧡 Monty is available through our Special Edition Foster-to-Adopt program. His introduction will be slower than a typical adoption, potentially starting with short visits, then longer visits or weekend stays as his confidence grows. Approved applicants can then begin a foster-to-adopt trial before deciding whether to finalize his adoption. It gives Monty and his future family time to build a bond that’s right for everyone. 💛

🛏️ Crate Trained: Does well loose in the house
🎾 Activity Level: Moderate; enjoys walks, toys, play and downtime
🐶 Dogs: Loves dogs! Requires a mature, confident, well-mannered female dog
🐱 Cats: No
👧 Kids: Ages 13+
🩺 Medical Needs: Heart arrhythmia; No treatment currently, but future monitoring or treatment may be needed. Must avoid prolonged intense play.

Mochi takes his role as household assistant very seriously. Get up to make a cup of tea? He’s coming with you. Change rooms? He’s already on his way! 😂 He’s even made friends with dogs much smaller than himself, including a play buddy who weighs just 22 lbs.

🐱 WE HAVE A VILLAGE FULL OF CATS… BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP FINDING THE CAT PEOPLE! ❤️

We know, we know. Our name says DOG Rescue! 😂🐾 And naturally, most people who find their way to our Village are looking for a dog.

But right now, our Village is unusually full of feline faces, and finding their forever families can be a little trickier when our usual audience is full of dog lovers!

We currently have 11 beautiful cats in our care:

🐾 QT Pie, Shaw, Jackson, Dylan, Steve, Brenda, Brandon, Grumpy, Swiss, Ham & Lexa!

Some of these sweet souls are ready to find their forever families, while others are still healing. ❤️‍🩹 Many came to us in pretty rough condition, and a couple were even found in the garbage. They’ve already been through so much, and our incredible fosters and volunteers are giving them the love, care, and time they need to recover and discover just how wonderful life can be. ❤️

And this is where we’re hoping our Village can work a little magic! ✨

She’s already earned the title of Mama. Now Maddox is hoping for a new one: somebody’s very best girl! This sweetheart is ready to fill her forever family’s days with little moments worth smiling about. ❤️

Maddox has a very important hobby: finding the squeaker in a toy and making it her personal mission to remove it. 😂 She’s also a fan of belly rubs and, believe it or not, a little classical music when it’s time to relax.

This sweet, goofy girl has come SO far since joining the Village! After two months of board and train, she can now enjoy leashed walks and is ready for her next step: a foster-to-adopt home. 🥹

📏 Size: Medium, about 40 lbs
🐕 Breed: Mixed breed
💛 Temperament: Active & Playful, curious and goofy once she feels safe
🏠 House Training: Yes
🛏️ Crate Training: Yes
🎾 Activity Level: Loves playtime, toys, kiddie pools and naps with dog friends
🐶 Dogs: LOVES them! Another playful dog is REQUIRED.
🐱 Cats: Untested
👧 Kids: Dog-savvy kids okay
🏡 Home Requirements: Detached home, secure fenced yard, playful dog and patient people

Skittles came into care in February 2025 after living as a feral dog. She’s still learning to trust people, but she’s discovered treats, games, comfy beds and how wonderful doggy friendships can be! She’s not a lap dog yet; she shows love through play and little nose-boop tricks, and needs gentle affection on her own terms. 💛

Our foster-to-adopt program gives an approved family time to build a bond before making adoption final. Skittles’ transition also includes a meet-and-greet with her trainer and a couple of follow-up sessions in Dunrobin. With a playful canine sibling and understanding humans, she’s ready to keep blossoming. 🌼
