South Saskatchewan Animal Hospital 🐾 Providing urgent, emergent, general, and preventative veterinary care for small animals

Our veterinary hospital has been in operation since 1993 and has been a 24 hour facility since 2008. In May 2012 we passed a stringent evaluation of over 900 standards covering patient care, client service and medical protocols to became AAHA accredited. We are proud to be able to offer high quality veterinary services to canine and feline patients and their owners in Regina and the surrounding area in our state-of-the-art facility in East Regina 24 hours a day!

CPR is a team effort 🤝

Recently over 25 SSAH team members, consisting of our DVMs, technicians and tech assistants, strengthened their communication, team work and skills in high quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques by becoming Recover CPR certified!

Fun fact: Recover CPR is the only official CPR certification recognized by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS).

SSAH is committed to investing in continuing education so that our staff remain confident and prepared for when our clients and patients need us the most 🐾💙

Hazel spent the day with our team after having TPLO surgery! Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy is a common orthopedic procedure done in dogs to repair a torn cranial cruciate ligament, the ligament in the knee that helps to stabilize the joint. In humans, this is equivalent to an ACL tear - ouch!

In a TPLO surgery, instead of replacing the torn ligament, Dr. Sereda carefully cuts and rotates the angle of the top of the shin bone and stabilizes it with a metal plate & screws. Hazel will require a bit of time to rest as well as gradual return and increase to her activity, but with this surgery her knee will function more normally (& comfortably!) without relying on the damaged ligament 🐾

Caught something… just not what we expected 🎣🐱

Miss Stitch let her curiosity get the best of her and ended up with a fish hook stuck on her tongue *ouch*!

With a bit of sedation to help relax her our team was quickly able to remove the hook and send this sweet little lady back home to recover.
