Cray-Zee Critters (formerly CrayZfish & Critters) is a small-scale Syrian hamster breeder located in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Our focus as a breeder is to bring healthy, friendly hamsters to the prairies while guiding others towards ethical hamster-keeping. CrayZfish & Critters is a Syrian hamster breeder and small animal rescue located in Regina, Saskatchewan. Our focus as a breeder is to bring quality, friendly hamsters to the prairies. As a rescue we work primarily with small mammals such as hamsters and guinea pigs, and birds such as budgies, lovebirds, and cockatiels.

READY, SET, ACTION! 🎥 Please welcome Huntrix and Tumbleweed’s Ham-star litter! 🤩🐹 Of the five total we have decided to keep two (who we will share with all of you later). These three are so sweet; if we could we’d keep them all as future breeders!

These babies should have been posted a literal month ago, but life had other plans for me. 🫠 Thank you to everyone for your patience, and I really am sorry about the delay!

It’s time to re-introduce everyone to Huntrix—Golden’s wild child sister—from the K-Pop Demon Hamsters litter! 🐹 Just like her sister, she looks nothing like her parents, but inherited her mother’s chaotic energy. 😂 She is the craziest critter in the household and is the first hammy to move into our largest enclosure! As her name suggests, she knows no fear, was fiercely protective of her pups, and is incredibly smart.

Although we love all our babies, Huntrix holds a special place in my heart. She looks just like our first hamster, Geode, and has a similar personality. 🥹

Huntrix gave birth to Tumbleweed’s five pups in August. 👀 Since Golden is her sister, these little ones are half-siblings to our previous litter. I know I’m so behind on posts, but I’ll hopefully have their photos up by tomorrow! 🤞

One VERY exciting thing that happened over the summer: we finally got our hands on a Bucastate, our dream enclosure! 😍 …Okay so maybe it was bought secondhand when one of our followers reached out and asked if we were interested, but still! 🥳 Now if only we could save money fast enough to get more sooner rather than later… 😅

You may notice there isn’t a wheel in there. 👀 The only time we remove wheels from an enclosure is if we have an expecting or nursing mother. Hmm… 🤔🐹

Please enjoy this photo of miss Tara! 😍 She’s over two years old now, a grandmama, and the oldest hammy in our household (although she doesn’t act like it 🥹).

This year’s summer has yet again been exhausting one, but we’re still here and have been active behind social media! There are a few updates we would like to share with all of you, and sadly, not all of them are happy. 😞 For now though, as we get back into a daily posting routine, we’ll start with the happier ones. 💕

EDIT: a piggy has been found!

One of our trusted followers is on the search for a tame female guinea pig to welcome into her established herd! The herd had recently lost their boss piggy who was the only calm one in the group.

Their owners are looking for one preferably very calm and handleable for the remaining babies—Fern, Juniper, Poppy, and Clover—to look up to and learn from. They would also prefer one that doesn’t look like anyone they had previously lost, but they will touch base on that later once they have more leads. 🥰

We’re back from vacation! 😍 Storm, Rook, Sid, Braeden, my brother, and I spent time with my dad’s side of the family out in Alberta for the past two weeks. Boy, did we need it! 😅 The remaining critters at home were lovingly cared for by two of our closest friends. 🥰

That being said, we’re happy to be back home with our babies. Vacations are great, but I do get homesick after a while. 🥹 We have a lot to catch up on, including making a fresh batch of hamster mix. 🐹 If you haven’t already requested a bag or two and are running low, let us know so we can set some aside!

I kid you not: I had just finished cleaning Zack and Chewy’s enclosure, left to do some dishes for about 10ish minutes, came back, and there was piggy p**p EVERYWHERE. 💩 Yes, there’s even one floating in their water dish!

A lot of beginner piggy-keepers don’t realize how messy these guys can be and the upkeep that’s required, especially for the ones that hadn’t been trained at a young age. That being said, it’s rewarding (as owning any pet is) when they reach the point where they can safely free roam all day, follow you when it’s time for their salads and treats, and gently ask for some scritches, snuggles, and love. 🥹❤️
