ALERT K9 2024 Classes/Seminars - located at ALOHA K9 Training Facility

COST - $200 per dog for 11 weeks of instruction

Dates/Times-
February 3:
10-11 Beginner/Started
11-12 Advanced
12-1 Excellent/Elite

February 17, March 2, March 16, April 6: (these classes are 2 hours in length each)
10-12 Beginner/Started
12-2 Advanced

Weeks in between the in person classes - exercises and homework will be given on Saturdays via WhatsApp. You will record your sessions and post in the group and will receive instructions/tips and things to work on.

You will have the benefit of watching everyone else’s videos, as well as I will post my videos in there as well (if I do my homework 😬) and explain any difficulties I’m having and how I will work to solve them. So you will see everything from working with a very green dog (Gretyl) to 2 very experienced and titled dogs (Karma and Rookie).

All of these classes will cover everything from starting a dog, proofing exercises, handling, what to do when things go wrong (and they will haha just ask Karma 🤪) managing your search area, what to expect when you are trialling, what judges are looking for, and much more!

**When the weather starts to warm up, I will start to hold some additional outdoor classes so we you can learn how to manage an outdoor search. These classes will be more of a “drop in” type set up, and will be at a lower cost, usually $15 per session.

Contact Christina Legien to register at [email protected]
Or on Facebook by messenger.

Hello smelly friends 🥰

This summer has been a busy one for ALERT K9!
We hosted our regular June and September trials and also just finished hosting the Boneyard Challenge last weekend. We had some great successes over the summer and of course some groaner, heartbreaking moments as well.

At our June trial, Rookie achieved his Elite title AND his MACH title in the same weekend. That was his first try at Elite and he handled the pressure amazing. We are now working towards his Elite Championship, and his MACH2.

At our September trial, Karma achieved her MACH2 title. She is only the 4th dog in Canada to earn this title. I am so proud of her, she did not miss a single hide all weekend.
Karma and I had been having some struggles in the last year prior to these trials and so I made the decision to not trial her in Elite. She bounced back like a champ and showed that she still has what it takes to earn her MACH2 ❤️❤️

***edited to add - Rookie also achieved his Games Championship at our September trial with his awesome partner Denali and my bestie Darla ❤️

Now we get back to work and to the basics to fine tune those things we need to clean up for next season! My next post will be about classes!! Stay tuned!

Just wanted to update some info for people who are new to the page!

About the owner!

Christina has been training and competing in various Dogsports for over 25 years with many different breeds of dogs over the years. During this time she has also been teaching classes in obedience, flyball, agility, and most recently nosework.

Nosework is a fairly new sport, especially on the prairies. Christina’s German Shepherd Karma is the FIRST dog in Saskatchewan and Manitoba to achieve a Championship title, a MACH title AND an Elite title. Karma also has her Games Championship. Karma is still the only dog in Saskatchewan to hold a MACH title and an Elite title. Karma also has her ONYX award in flyball, her ADC and SGDC title in agility, and achieved her started, advanced and team titles in 2 weekends of rally trials.

Both of her other dogs (Rookie and Emma) also have their Championship titles in the SDDA, with Emma the border collie obtaining this at 13 1/2 years old. Emma is currently 17 1/2 years old and STILL does scenting!!

Rookie is also 2 Q’s away from his MACH title with the SDDA and is also a high level agility competitor, and is just a couple runs away from an ATCH. He also has his FMCH title in Flyball and loves herding!

Christina has the many years of experience and knowledge in all levels and venues of training and handling you need to help you reach your goals in the sport of nosework. When you are looking for an instructor you will want someone who has this experience with hundreds of dogs who can help you through any obstacles or situations that may arise in your training. Look at the resume of your desired instructor to determine what is right for you. How many dogs have they trained or trialed? How long have they been competing and instructing?

Others claim to be the best but the proof is in what you have accomplished.

If you want to be the best, you want to learn from the best.

Contact us today to sign up for the next set of classes. We are also offering online classes now!
