✨ Zoe’s transformation! ✨
Over the past several weeks, I’ve been working with sweet Zoe, an Alaskan Malamute, through a long process of dematting and deshedding. 🐾❤️
This was definitely not a one-day job! Because dematting can be uncomfortable for dogs, we took things slowly and patiently, doing several appointments about a week apart so Zoe could stay comfortable and get used to the process.
It took many hours, lots of patience, and plenty of teamwork, but we finally got there — and Zoe is feeling better than ever! 🥰
There were a few areas that were simply too sensitive to safely demat, so those areas were carefully shaved instead. Zoe’s comfort always came first, and we never want to push a dog past what they can comfortably handle.
With matting this severe, shaving is often the safest and most comfortable option. In Zoe’s case, her pawrents were willing to put in the time and work with us through the process, which made all the difference. ❤️
This type of dematting isn’t suitable for every dog, and every situation is different. Each coat and each dog needs to be assessed individually, with their comfort and wellbeing always coming first.
