🍂🐾 Colourful leaves can make fall walks more scenic and enjoyable, but they can also hide a few things curious pets should not snack on!

Mouldy food, fallen fruit and nuts, discarded treats, wrappers and other debris can easily disappear beneath a pile of leaves. A few simple habits can help keep every autumn adventure safe:

👀 Watch where your pet is sniffing and exploring
🐕 Keep them close in areas covered by deep leaves
🗣️ Practise helpful cues like “leave it” and “drop it”
🍁 Survey your yard and regularly remove debris or potential hazards
🗑️ Keep garbage and compost securely covered
🔦 Bring a flashlight along when walking after dark

Vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, unusual tiredness, wobbliness, tremors or difficulty breathing can all signal that something is wrong. If you think your pet may have eaten something hazardous, contact your veterinarian right away.

A little extra attention lets your pet safely enjoy all the sights, smells and satisfying crunches of the season! 🍁🐶🐱

🐾 Happy National Cat & Dog Gut Health Awareness Day! 💚

Shining a light on an area of pet wellness that can have an impact on so much more than digestion! A healthy gut plays an important role in nutrient absorption, immune function and overall well-being 🐶🐱

So, how can we help support their gut health?

🥣 Quality nutrition that meets your pet’s individual needs is the foundation of a healthy digestive system.

💧 Fresh water and moisture-rich foods can help support healthy digestion and keep things moving.

🦠 Support their microbiome! Prebiotics, probiotics and gut-supporting foods or supplements can help maintain a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria.

🌱 For our feline friends, cat grass can provide a source of fibre and help support healthy digestion.

🐾 Keep them active: Regular exercise supports overall wellness and can help promote healthy digestion too.

🍽️ Switching foods too quickly can upset sensitive stomachs. Slowly transitioning to a new food gives their digestive system time to adjust.

Every pet is different, and finding the right nutrition and routine can make a big difference. Global Pet Foods is here to help you explore foods, supplements and other options that can support your pet from the inside out. ❤️

Here’s to happy tummies and long, healthy, happy lives together! 🐾

🐾 A little preparation can make a big difference when accidents happen!

Whether you’re building your own pet first aid kit or choosing one of the great ready-made options available, make sure it includes helpful essentials like:

🩹 Gauze, bandages and medical tape
🧤 Disposable gloves
✂️ Blunt-tip scissors and tweezers
🧼 Saline solution and pet-safe antiseptic wipes or spray
🧊 An instant cold pack
📋 Your pet’s medical information and important emergency contacts

Keep your kit somewhere easy to access and check it regularly to replace used or expired supplies.

A first aid kit can help you respond in the moment, but it does not replace veterinary care. Always contact your veterinarian or an emergency clinic for guidance. ❤️🐶🐱

What’s one item you always keep in your pet’s first aid kit?

🌞🌻 Summer's winding down and routines are shifting back to "normal." For a lot of pets that shift feels bigger than we realize!

Pets get used to having their people around more, and when that changes, some of them genuinely struggle with it. That's separation anxiety, not bad behaviour 🐶💕

Signs to watch for:
🐾 Pacing, whining, or barking right as you're leaving
🐾 Accidents in the house even though they're fully house trained
🐾 Chewing, scratching, or destructive behaviour near doors and windows
🐾 Excessive drooling or panting when you're getting ready to go
🐾 Refusing to eat or following you from room to room like your personal shadow

A few things that can help:
✨ Practice short departures so being alone doesn't feel like a big deal
✨ Keep arrivals and departures low key, skip the dramatic hellos and goodbyes
✨ Add a puzzle feeder or long lasting chew to redirect that nervous energy
✨ Stick to a consistent routine for walks, feeding, and playtime
✨ Leave something that smells like you, an old t shirt works great

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone, and neither is your pet 🥰 Our team at Global Pet Foods are always happy to chat through options and point you toward products that can help ease the transition. Just ask us in store!
