If your Bearded Dragon closes its eyes when you're around, don’t ignore it. 🦎👀
Many owners think it means their beardie is calm or sleepy.
But in reality, it can be a sign of stress or discomfort.
One of the most common reasons is a temperature mistake in the enclosure.
Bearded dragons depend on proper heat to digest food, stay active, and keep their immune system strong. When the basking spot is too cold or too hot, your beardie may shut its eyes as a stress response.
⚠️ Common temperature mistakes: • Basking spot too cool
• No proper heat gradient in the tank
• Using colored bulbs at night
• Incorrect thermometer placement
✅ Ideal temperature guide: • Basking spot: 38–42°C (100–108°F)
• Warm side: 32–35°C (90–95°F)
• Cool side: 24–27°C (75–80°F)
Healthy temperatures = active, bright-eyed beardie.
Always double-check your thermometer and heating setup — a small mistake can lead to digestive issues, lethargy, and long-term health problems.
🦎 Your beardie can’t tell you something is wrong — but their behavior can.
