🐢 PLEASE WATCH FOR TURTLES ON OUR ROADS 🐢

We're seeing an increase in turtles being struck by vehicles throughout our region.

Please drive with extra caution near wetlands, ponds, marshes, and rural roads. Many of Ontario's turtle species are already at risk, and every adult turtle is important to the survival of local populations.

If you find an injured turtle, or aren't sure what to do, call:

📞 Vets Around the Corner: 905-985-5600
📞 Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre: 705-741-5000

⚠️ Please don't assume a turtle is beyond help. Turtles are incredibly resilient reptiles. We routinely assist turtles with severe traumatic injuries that many people would think are unsurvivable, yet they recover and return to the wild. Even when an adult turtle cannot be saved, viable eggs may still be recovered and incubated.

As a Turtle First Responder Clinic, we can provide advice and may be able to dispatch a volunteer or team member to assist.

🚑 If you see our Community Veterinarian Program ambulance stopped on the roadside with its emergency lights activated, we're likely helping a turtle. Please slow down and move over safely.

Every turtle matters. Thank you for helping protect Ontario's wildlife. 💚🐢

Introducing Dr. Lauren Eldred!

Many of you may already remember Lauren from her student rotation with us this past January. From the moment she walked through our doors, it was clear she was something special. Lauren embodies the compassion, clinical skills, judgement, and heart that make an exceptional veterinarian, and she demonstrated our core values in every interaction with patients, families, and our team. We knew right away we couldn’t let her get away!

Now, after officially earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lauren Eldred to our team.

Starting a veterinary career is an exciting milestone, and we are proud to support and mentor Lauren as she begins this next chapter. We know our clients and patients will love getting to know her just as much as we have.

Dr. Eldred will be available for appointments beginning June 15th — help us give her a warm welcome!

Happy Animal Care Assistant Appreciation Week! 🐾

Today, we celebrate our incredible Animal Care Assistants. ACAs wear many hats—they feed, walk, and monitor patients, keep the clinic tidy, and restock supplies, but they also plan ahead, ensuring everything is ready for the days to come. ACAs are incredibly adaptable—one moment they are calmly organizing supplies, and the next they’re jumping into an urgent situation, seamlessly shifting from one task to the opposite.

ACAs know where everything is in the hospital—they are the go-to people when anyone needs something. They are often the friendly faces you see entering the exam room alongside the technicians or veterinarians, helping keep your pet calm and reassured. After surgery, ACAs can be found cuddling your pet as they wake from anesthesia, ensuring they are comfortable and safe.

It’s a role many people aren’t aware of, but their watchful care is vital—they do a little bit of everything, always thinking ahead so that every pet feels safe, supported, and truly cared for at every step. To our ACAs, thank you for your dedication and all the behind-the-scenes work you do. You make a world of difference every day. 🩵
