🐾 WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT, ANIMALS WILL GO WITHOUT CARE.
This isn't an easy post to write, but it's an important one.
The Vets Around the Corner Community Veterinarian Program (VAC-CVP) is expanding access to veterinary medicine in underserved communities and building a dedicated veterinary emergency preparedness and response team for 2027. Something never before seen in Ontario.
But we urgently need your help.
Our not-for-profit organization currently receives no government funding or grants. We rely on donations, volunteers, and the generosity of those who believe every animal deserves access to veterinary care.
This summer, our team spent 43 days responding to the Northern Ontario wildfires, providing veterinary care to animals affected by the disaster and those living in remote First Nations communities.
That single deployment cost approximately $130,000.
And the need extends far beyond emergencies.
A single outreach deployment into an underserved community can cost $50,000 to $70,000, but allows us to provide desperately needed care to hundreds of animals.
We're now working to expand our capabilities, including surgical services, while preparing for the next emergency season.
Here's what it costs to make that possible:
🐾 Anesthesia machine: $10,000
🐾 Surgical lighting: $3,000
🐾 Surgical sterilization equipment: $7,000
🐾 Patient monitoring equipment: $7,000
🐾 One charter flight into a remote community: $10,000
And these costs don't include medications, supplies, transportation, accommodation, or other operational expenses.
We've already demonstrated what our teams can accomplish.
We have veterinarians, veterinary technicians, first responders, and dedicated volunteers willing to give their time and travel into challenging environments to help animals in need.
What we don't have is sustainable funding.
Without financial support, we cannot expand these desperately needed services, and eventually, we may not be able to sustain what we've already built.
That means animals will go without care, communities will remain underserved, and when the next disaster strikes, we may not have the resources to respond.
We don't want a lack of funding to be the reason an animal suffers.
We're asking individuals, businesses, corporations, and community organizations to stand behind this mission.
