Today was my first session with Luca! If you think you've seen him on my page before, you'd be wrong but not totally crazy. He's a full littermate to Nelly who I just finished working with last week!

He's smart like she is and started picking things up very quickly. He's mostly needing help with leash responsiveness (even on a prong) so we can begin to build a heel.

He's a great example of the tools don't train the dog, people train the dog. He's a big boy and just an absolute sweetheart. Love this big meathead already ♥️

There's a popular phrase out there said by many trainers. And its: let them sniff

You might be thinking, why? Isn't that the dog engaging with the environment over me? Isn't it a bad habit? They pull on the leash when they sniff...

The fact of the matter is, all dogs have a natural desire to sniff. They rely on their nose more than their eyes. It's how they take in the world. Getting to sniff is extremely fulfilling for them.

By giving them the opportunity to sniff and express this very natural behaviour, you're fulfilling a need. One that they won't feel so inclined to rehearse when it's time for that loose leash walk, if they've got a regular outlet for it.

Dog's also naturally travel faster on foot than we do. Another huge reason leash pulling is so common. We're too slow! If we're going to ask them to match our pace, it's only fair we allow them to set their own pace sometimes.

So, let your dog sniff.

A couple of my dogs need some training refreshers and Im finding myself flying through treats again.

I remembered I used to use cut up rollover to save money, I thought Id share so those who might be looking to save some money, can be aware of another high value, but affordable option. 😊

Important ⚠️

I have only 3 spots left for weekly reoccurring hikes! These spots are only for small - large dogs (max 70lbs).

If you've been on the fence about signing your dog up, or increasing their current hike schedule, now's the time to get in!

I will be decreasing my training availability as we move into summer. This is to prevent burning myself out so I can continue to provide a quality service. As well as keep time and energy for my personal dogs.

Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support my little venture here. It means the world to me ♥️
