We had a first yesterday!

The first time we had ever got a call for an emu with porcupine quills. William was trying to protect his property and seemingly stomped the porcupine, leaving quills stuck in his feet and legs. Dr. Cathy, Dr. Maya & RVT Ashley headed out to sedate him and pull the quills. His friend, Waylon the pig, didn't want to miss out on the action and had to come over for some snacks and attention.

We had a bit of a unique patient on Friday - Zipper the ferret was in to see Dr. Brendan.

We love to see all the weird and wonderful pets people have. And while working rural, we don't get to see a ton, we do have a few veterinarians who are interested in exotic pet medicine.

We are excited to announce that we are hosting our 2nd annual "It's Cuter to be Neutered" feline neuter day! All cats will get neutered, vaccinated, tattooed & dewormed.

One final new face to welcome to the CVC team. Dr. Rosie Ling joins us from the UK. She has been a veterinarian for 5 years and spent the last 2.5 years practicing in New Zealand. In her spare time she enjoys mountain biking, hiking and running. At the clinic her favorite thing to do is equine & bovine appointments. Please give a warm welcome to Dr. Rosie!

We have another new face to welcome to CVC. Say hello to our newest registered veterinary technologist, Mackenna! You may recognize her as she did her 6 week practicum with us back in January-February. Mackenna comes to us from Vancouver Island. Her favorite part about working in a vet clinic is taking care of medical cases and building relationships with the patients who come frequently for ongoing care. In her spare time she likes hiking and spending time outdoors. And she's getting a new puppy of her own tomorrow!

Murphy went went 5 years barely able to use his back legs due to permanent dislocated knee caps.

Surgeons at CVC corrected the problem with a bilateral luxating patella surgery and look at Murphy go now!

Has your dog been quilled by a porcupine before? This fellow came in yesterday and while there weren't too many visible quills on the outside of his mouth, he had a LOT on the inside of his mouth!

This is one of the reasons that we recommend sedation for removal of quills, so that we can have a good look of the entire mouth inside and out.
