Have you heard of a Titer Test?

Titer Testing has been growing in popularity among dog owners in the recent years.

What is a Titer Test though?

Also known as a serologic testing it is a measures the concentration of antibodies in the dog's blood for different virus'. A dogs immune system produces antibodies to fight different virus' they may contract, and a titer test is checking to see what level of protection the dog has against different diseases.
It is done by taking a blood sample and having it analyzed. The results let your veterinarian know whether the dog is protected or a booster vaccination is required.

The benefit is that you are avoiding over-vaccination and reducing the risk of potential side affects from the vaccinations themselves. The downside is that it can be expensive, more expansive than the booster vaccination.
Please consult your veterinarian for more information about whether titer testing is a good option for your dog 🐾
