From the bottom of our hearts, we just want to say thank you.
It has been incredibly moving to watch our community come together for the people and pets of Summerland, and it'ssurrounding areas.
There have been moments over the past week when members of our team have had to step away after conversations with people affected by this tragedy. There really are no words for the heartbreak we have witnessed. People have lost their homes, their belongings, their sense of security, and for some, their beloved pets. Thousands of people have been displaced or separated from everything they know.
We feel that heartbreak deeply.
Many of our team members have been working 7+ days in a row to help support the influx of pet parents who have suddenly found themselves in a situation none of us could have imagined. Others have been volunteering their time outside of work, making donation drop-offs, helping relocate animals, and simply doing whatever they can to help.
We aren't doing this because we have to.
We're doing it because we care, and we want to show up for our neighboring community.
Through the generosity of our incredible Penticton customers, over $3,000 worth of product has been donated from our location alone. What makes that even more remarkable is that some of the people who have been evacuated themselves have still found a way to give to others.
We don't know how to adequately put into words what that means to us.
It is heartbreaking to see you all hurting, but it is also incredibly beautiful to see people come together with so much compassion, generosity, and love.
We only wish it were under better circumstances.
To everyone who has donated, volunteered, worked long hours, opened their homes, helped an animal, checked on a neighbour, or simply asked, “What can I do?"
Thank you. Truly.
Our hearts are with every person and every pet affected by this tragedy. ❤️ I know we have missed so many massive community partnerships and regular citizens that have supported through this. So please do feel free to tag them, we have lost track of how many generous people have walked through our days in this last week.
