Are you looking to take your veterinary medicine career to the next level as the Practice Manager of a thriving small animal clinic?
We’re Paisley Veterinary Services and we want to hear form you!
We’re a five-vet, independent, woman-owned, rural, small animal clinic, in one of Ontario’s most beautiful counties.
Located on stunning Lake Huron, Bruce County is the ideal place to live well, play and breathe easier, in natural splendour.
Enjoy beaches, mountain trails, and deep red sunsets over the lake. Get involved in cultural pastimes or raise your own food, animals, and family.
Our clinic building is large, roomy, and full of sunlight. We have ample parking and are close to the quaint shops of Paisley.
Our client approach is friendly and empathetic, offering treatment options and solutions to fit within clients’ budget; we’re supportive, not pushy.
Our culture is dedicated and fun. We strive to take care of our staff so they can take care of patients, to the best of our professional ability. In quieter moments, we share stories and laugh together. Veterinary medicine is full of inherent pressures; we aim to face those together, supporting one another in work enjoyment and growth.
The Role
This role exists to ensure our team is aligned with our purpose (Small Actions for Great Love) and engaged in our work.
While the work of a practice manager is varied, some essential duties include:
• Constant improvement of our purpose, principles, and protocols, which have been developed collaboratively with staff over the last year
• People engagement: 1:1s and/or surveys, recruitment and selection, onboarding and training, feedback & conflict resolution, compensation (incl. benefits, RRSP), staff socials & appreciation, including running our annual employee awards practice
• Managing the clinic schedule and staffing
• Client engagement: communicating with clients via Facebook and other communication tools
• Client feedback: monitoring client surveys and other feedback mechanisms so we can understand how to best serve our clients
• Support the team in resolving customer issues, particularly the most difficult ones
• Supervisor health and safety obligations, including ensuring there is a health and safety rep and that person is supported to do their role, monthly inspections, etc.
• Trouble-shooting operational issues such as tech and facilities issues
• Daily rounds to start each morning on the right foot (paw?)
This role could suit someone with existing veterinary medicine management experience and/or HR or management experience from another industry. We are open to hearing from both types of candidates.
The Practical Stuff
We are open to full-time and part-time arrangements.
We welcome applicants from management and human resources backgrounds, including those without direct veterinary medical experience.
We offer health benefits, matched RRSP, CE allowance, three weeks paid vacation annually, paid sick days, clinic discounts, and wage commensurate with experience.
