Happy Canada Day!

Today I celebrated by visiting Canada Agriculture and Food Museum as I absolutely love farm animals! I met some very adorable goats, cows, sheep, ducks and other animals. I enjoyed reading all of the educational material on the walls, especially finding one about behaviour and horses.

It explained the difference between how the ears on horses move and which picture shows where the horse is listening (one ear rotated backwards and the other forwards) and one that is agitated or fearful (ears pinned against their head). I love this! With horses ears, cats also show similar behaviour with their ears.

How did you celebrate Canada Day today?

Mats and I wish everyone a safe and healthy Canada Day! 😸🇨🇦

Cats thrive on routine!

Here is a sneak peak into Mats morning routine of some playtime with a feathered wand toy! Being active in your cats daily routine builds a stronger bond with you and your feline friend. One of Mats favourite prey games is catching his feathers! It provides him with that physical and mental stimulation he needs in the morning before breakfast.

Why do cats need exercise or a routine?
Cats become bored easily and when their needs are not met they can get into trouble, like chewing headphone wires or knocking things off shelves. Providing exercise that stimulates mental and physical excerise it allows your feline friend to get that energy out in healthy ways [and not knocking your expensive china off the shelf] while building a stronger human-cat bond!

Wednesday was all about what colours your feline friend can see. Why does your feline friend have difficulty seeing certain colours in low-light?

Let's dive in and take a look! Cats can't see well in total darkness, however, having a dim light this allows them to see. With the dim light it enters the eye called, iris, which then dilates the pupils allowing more light to enter and reaching the retina.

With orange and red colours, cat's have difficulty seeing colours of low-frequency light.

Did you know your feline friend can see colours of greens, yellow, blue and violet colours! Isn't that cool? It's also interesting to know that your feline friend does have difficulty seeing colour in low-light like the colours red and orange.

Find out why in Friday's post!

Simon says...

Playtime is so important! Simon really enjoyed these play sessions with his wiggle worm.

Did you know?
Cats need 2 15-minute play sessions a day to burn energy and reduce unwanted behaviours. Cat breeds like Bengals require longer play sessions.
