Indoor doesn’t always mean flea-free! 🐱🪲

While indoor cats may have less exposure to fleas, they can still find their way inside on clothing, shoes, people, or other pets.

Fleas can cause more than just itching. In some cats, flea bites can lead to significant skin irritation, hair loss, and wounds from excessive scratching and grooming. Fleas can also carry Dipylidium caninum, a common tapeworm that cats can contract by swallowing an infected flea while grooming.

Keeping your cat on appropriate flea prevention can help protect them, even if their paws never leave the house. 🐾❤️

🍂 Thanksgiving Weekend Hours 🦃🐾

Harmony Road Animal Hospital will be closed October 10–12 for the Thanksgiving weekend. We’ll reopen on Tuesday, October 13th with our regular hours. 🧡

💊 Need food or medication?
We encourage our clients to check their pet’s supplies and let us know as soon as possible if you need any food or medication refills. Our ordering and delivery schedules will be affected by the holiday, so please plan ahead to make sure your pet has everything they need!

🐾 October is Fundraise for Farley Month! 🩵

Throughout October, Harmony Road Animal Hospital is proudly raising funds for the Farley Foundation, an organization that helps subsidize necessary veterinary care for pets belonging to Ontario families experiencing financial hardship. 🐶🐱

We see every day just how much our pets mean to us. No one should have to face the possibility of losing a beloved companion simply because veterinary care is out of reach. Donations to the Farley Foundation help keep pets healthy, cared for, and where they belong, with the people who love them. 💙

Meet lovely Luna! 🤎🐾

Luna stopped by to see us after dealing with some pesky itching, but she certainly didn’t let that dampen her personality! This sweet girl came equipped with plenty of tail wags, and kisses. 🐶

Her hobbies include swimming, loving her humans, and making sure absolutely NO snack goes to waste. Priorities. Although Luna is not picky, her favourite snack is peanut butter. 🥜

We hope you’re feeling less itchy and much more comfortable soon, Luna! 💕

Things We Wish Every Pet Owner Knew — Part Two 🐾💙

Our pets can’t tell us when something feels different, and unfortunately, they can be really good at hiding when something is wrong.

Sometimes it’s not a dramatic symptom. It might be drinking a little more, sleeping longer, hesitating before jumping, a change in weight or appetite, or simply seeming a little “off.”

And yes… they may still be eating!🍴Appetite is important, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle.

You know your pet better than anyone. If something seems different, you don’t have to wait until you’re certain something is wrong to give us a call. Sometimes it’s nothing to worry about, and sometimes those little changes help us catch something early. 🩺

When in doubt, tell us what you’re noticing. We’re listening. 💙

Come along with Pluto for a visit at Harmony Road Animal Hospital! 🐾🩺

Pluto stopped by for a check-up, a few preventative-care essentials, and of course, plenty of attention from the team. 🤍

And don’t worry, his 4DX was negative across the board! 🎉🐾

While we typically recommend annual 4DX testing in spring, additional testing may sometimes be recommended after a tick bite or if a dose of parasite prevention has been missed. When in doubt, we’d rather check and be safe!

Thank you to our very handsome (and very brave!) patient Pluto for letting us bring everyone along for his visit. 🥰

From 4 lbs to 152 lbs, every patient who walks (or gets carried) through our doors deserves the same amount of care, compassion, and attention.

Whether they take up the whole exam table or fit right into our arms, we’re always happy to be part of keeping them healthy and feeling their best. 🩺🐶

Because at Harmony Road Animal Hospital, there’s no such thing as too big or too small to be loved. 💛
