Comfie Cat Shelter Established in 2005, situated in Orillia, Ontario, the Comfie Cat Shelter stands as a beacon of hope for felines in need.

Dedicated to tackling the challenges of overpopulation, abandonment, and neglect, we proudly operate as a no-kill sanctuary for cats. The Comfie Cat Shelter is a no-kill shelter founded in 2005 to address the issue of the over population of abandoned cats. The shelter was established because the number of cats being abandoned or neglected is increasing every year. The members/volunteers of The Comfie Cat Shelter believe in helping cats in need. If accepted, cats surrendered by their owners must be defleaed and vaccinated. Cats that have been rescued or accepted from people who are no longer able to care for them, are given veterinary care and medication when required. Cats and older kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Kittens too young to be spayed/neutered come with a $50 certificate to be refunded when proof of spay/neuter is shown. Until recently all of the cats were kept in foster homes until permanent homes could be found for them. The foster homes are screened for their ability to give quality care and a loving environment to the cats or kittens. While we continue to use foster homes when needed, we now have a location at 112 Norweld Drive. in Orillia and we invite the public to make an appointment at (705) 326-1545 to visit and meet the cats for adoption.

🍂 Giving Thanks for Every Meow and Purr! 🍂

This Thanksgiving, all of us at the Comfie Cat Shelter are taking a moment to reflect on what we’re most grateful for and at the top of our list is YOU! 🐱💛

Because of our incredible community of supporters, volunteers, adopters, and donors, hundreds of rescue cats have found safe, warm beds, nutritious meals, and the loving forever homes they truly deserve. Every shared post, every donation, and every adoption makes a life-changing difference for our shelter kitties.

This week we are over the moon to share that Bella Boo, Osiris and Sunshine have both found their furever homes! 🎉❤️

Whether they were melting hearts with their charming personalities or searching for the ultimate cuddle spot, these wonderful cats have officially found the families they’ve been dreaming of. 🏡🐱💖 We couldn’t be happier to see them settle into their next chapters filled with endless comfort, cozy naps, and all the love in the world.

A big, heartfelt thank you to their wonderful new families for choosing rescue, and to our incredible community for always cheering on our residents. Because of you, happy endings like these happen every single week! 💕

Here’s to another week of tail wags and sweet purrs! 😻 Our adoptable cats and kittens at PetSmart Orillia are ready and waiting to meet their forever people. If you’ve been considering adding a furry friend to your family, come drop by and spend a little time with our sweet residents.

Our dedicated volunteers will be on-site during the hours listed in the graphic to introduce you to the kitties, chat about their unique personalities, and help walk you through the adoption process. 💕

🍦 Meet Milkshake 🍦

Born in October 2018, Milkshake came to the shelter as a stray in October 2023. She is a very reserved, calm, and shy girl who becomes an absolute sweetheart once she feels comfortable and safe. Milkshake really wants to love people and receive all the affection, but she is still quite unsure of the world and takes her time to trust new humans. She will need an adopter who is exceptionally patient and gentle to help her settle in at her own pace. 💕

Once she knows you, Milkshake reveals her deeply affectionate side. She genuinely likes getting pets and enjoys a good head scratch, sometimes rubbing against your legs when she is in the mood for attention. She also absolutely loves napping in cozy spots and being gently groomed with a brush. However, she is a "paws-on-the-ground" lady who does not like being held, and when she has had enough attention, she will gently pull away or give a quick swat if you don't take the hint. 🥰

This sweet girl has been through a lot; upon her surrender, she was found to have severe stomatitis, which required most of her teeth to be removed. She has healed wonderfully and still eats her kibble just fine, though she definitely prefers her wet food! Because she startles easily and thrives on predictability, she requires a quiet, adult-only home. She would likely be scared of dogs and wants a home without them, and while she gets along fine with other cats, she doesn't actively seek them out and would be perfectly content as your one-and-only. At this point in her life, Milkshake just wants a comfy couch to snooze on and a gentle hand to offer her some sweet pets. 🛋️🥫🐈

Born in June 2026, Dexter is just the kitten you’ve been searching for! This sweet, lively boy is a total bundle of happiness, and give him a ball or a toy spring to chase and it’s an instant party! 🌟🎾🌀

Dexter has a wonderful, curious spirit, he absolutely loves exploring his surroundings and will happily trot behind you everywhere you go to keep you company. Once his adventures are done for the day, he’s all about affection! He adores sweet head scritches and will eagerly hop up to find a nice, warm lap to snuggle into for cozy naps. 🛋️🤗💕

His absolute dream is to find a loving home of his very own with plenty of sunny windows to peek out of and watch the world go by. 🪟☀️

Born in June 2026, the "L" in Landon's name definitely stands for "laid-back"! This sweet, easygoing little girl has a wonderfully calm and mellow nature, but she still has all the fun, curious kitten energy you could ever wish for. 🌟💖

Landon is happiest when she’s perched by a window watching the birds fly by or joyfully chasing her favourite toys around the room. She brings the perfect balance of playful kitten energy and peaceful companionship into any space. Once playtime is over, she will happily show her love by showering you with affectionate head-bonks and a non-stop motor of cozy purrs! 🪟🧸🎶

🌟 Meet Rosie! 🌟

This adorable, small, and petite brown tabby with the cutest little white paws is ready to find her forever home after being with us since July 2022. Born in June 2017, Rosie is a deeply sweet, independent girl who actually knows her name and will happily come out when called! 🐾💖

Rosie loves being petted (petted only, she strictly prefers keeping her paws on the ground!) and eating treats! One of her absolute favourite things to do is roll onto her back for "aggressive" neck rubs, squirming with delight while you pamper her. She has the most endearing habit of letting her tiny tongue hang out, and while she gives gentle love nibbles, she is not aggressive at all, it’s just her sweet, funny way of communicating! 👅😻

When it comes to other felines, Rosie gets along with some cats, but she is quite timid around alpha males and can easily get overwhelmed. She would thrive best as an only cat or in a very calm setup where she doesn't feel intimidated. She requires a small, quiet, and patient home where she can relax and enjoy life at her own pace. 🛋️✨

Rosie's Ideal Home:
✅ Quiet & Calm: Best in a small, peaceful environment with patient humans.
✅ Only Pet Preferred: Best as an only cat (or without bossy/alpha males) and no dogs.
✅ Paws on the Ground: A lady who loves pets and neck rubs, but prefers not to be held! 💕

We’re looking for reliable volunteers to help behind the scenes and keep things running smoothly for our rescue kitties! 🐱✨

🧺 The Role: Wash and fold cozy bedding and towels, prep meals and organize cat food, and keep our kitchen and laundry areas tidy.

🏡 The Impact: Fresh blankets, clean dishes, and well-prepared meals ensure our cats stay comfy, nourished, and happy while they wait for their forever homes!

🌸🐾 Meet Pip! 🐾🌸

Born in March 2024, Pip is a sweet, silly, and slightly skittish girl with the softest, thickest fur you’ll ever feel. 💕 She may be a little nervous at first, but once she’s comfortable, she truly blossoms. Pip really enjoys pets, she’ll roll over and over in delight, then pop up to follow you for more affection. 😻

At the shelter, she likes to hang out on a cozy laundry room shelf where she can observe the world from a safe, comfy spot. Pip prefers a quieter, more predictable home routine, as she can get nervous around new things or loud, sudden noises. Because of this, she would not do well with loud or dominant cats or dogs and would thrive in a calm environment. 🏡✨

Pip absolutely adores her little stuffed toys. She even has her favourites and will proudly carry them around in her mouth, it’s as adorable as it sounds! 🧸🐾

With patience and love, her silly personality will continue to shine brighter every month she’s with you. Pip just needs someone willing to give her time to feel safe and secure.
