A longtime supporter of my gift business sent me this while getting ready for back to school.

She’s a teacher and picked up One Love. One Dog. Marley’s Incredible Journey ✨🐾❤️🇯🇲🇨🇦 from our quaint and iconic locally owned own local bookstore BookLore

The stories we place into little hands helps shape their hearts, and I am so excited for them to learn about how magical this true story of compassion, kindness and what one love can do when a community comes together.

And maybe it will be extra special knowing Miss Marley lives in their hometown and came all the way from Jamaica in an airplane!

Sometimes I have to pinch myself that this all really happened, because it really is a fairytale come true!

She has no idea her face is on the cover of a book.

Or that her story is being discovered in beautiful resorts and shops across Jamaica, then carried home in suitcases to countries we may never visit. 🇯🇲♥️

But children around the world now know her name, including right here in our own community of Orangeville 🇨🇦 where Marley lives now. So many little hands have turned the pages of her story.

Marley’s story is about more than a puppy found alone on a beach.

It shows what can happen when a community comes together, one act of kindness creates a ripple and a moment becomes a movement.✨

No one person changed Marley’s life. So many people carried one small piece of her journey until she was finally home.

And people continue to carry her journey forward every time they purchase her book, share her story or place it into the hands of a child.

Now she is becoming a face of Jamaican dog rescue, educating children, inspiring kindness and helping save more dogs like her, because every book sold supports Montego Bay Animal Haven.

She may never understand any of it.

She just knows she is home and she is loved.

As all the beautiful tributes to Dolly come out, many of us are just learning about the incredible reading program she created to put books into the hands of children.

In my heart of hearts, I believe Dolly Parton would have adopted this book into her program because of what it stands for:

Kindness.
Compassion.
Love.
Community.

Messages that inspire children that even the smallest act of caring can change a life, because that is who Dolly was.

She lived her values, wore her heart on her sleeve and shared these messages with the world. And the fact that this book is a true story, yes, she would have taken it under her wing, I just know it. 💓

Thank you, Dolly, for the legacy you leave behind.

When love leads, the impossible becomes possible.

On , it feels pretty special knowing this little beach dog has become one of the faces of Jamaican dog rescue through her book. 🇯🇲🐾

Marley’s story has travelled from Jamaica to Japan, Portugal, England, Scotland, Canada and the USA—and those are just the places we know about!
