Did you know you may be able to switch lenders? Depending on your situation, switching could offer a better rate, different mortgage features, or more flexibility. 😍

I’ll be honest with you… during my own previous mortgage renewals, I never realized I had the option to move my mortgage to another lender and potentially save money! 😅

I always thought I just had to accept what my current lender offered me. I wish I had known sooner that you can shop around at renewal and explore other lenders and in many cases, switch without paying a mortgage prepayment penalty! 🏡✨

Of course, lender approval and other costs or conditions can still apply, but it’s absolutely worth knowing your options before signing that renewal offer.

That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping people understand their mortgages. 💕

In Canada, variable mortgage rates are generally influenced by the Bank of Canada’s overnight rate. When the Bank changes its rate, lenders may adjust their prime rates, which can affect variable mortgage rates. 📉📈

But what influences the Bank’s decisions? Things like inflation, employment, consumer spending, and the overall economy all play a role!

✨ The important thing to remember: Variable rates can change, which means it’s important to understand how a rate change could affect your mortgage payments or how quickly you pay down your balance.

I had the opportunity to attend a charity event hosted by First National lender at Second Harvest, where we spent time bagging potatoes to help get food to people in need. 🥰

It was such a great experience getting involved in the community, meeting wonderful people, and spending time with some of my amazing ABW team! ❤️

I’m so grateful to be part of an industry that creates opportunities to connect, give back, and make a difference beyond mortgages. 🏡✨

Feeling extra grateful today. 🥹🩷

Starting something new can be equal parts exciting, terrifying, and “OMG, I’m actually doing this!” 😂 And little moments like this make it feel even more real.

Day 2 of MortgageFest Canada 2026 ✨

My second day started with Jessica Holmes and a conversation about something we don’t talk about nearly enough—mental health and taking care of ourselves. ❤️

We live in such a busy, fast-paced world. We’re constantly working toward the next goal, answering the next message, checking the next thing off our list… and sometimes, somewhere along the way, we forget about ourselves.

It was such a great reminder that it’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to take a breath. It’s okay to step away for a moment and do something that fills your cup. 🥰

We’re so focused on getting where we’re going that sometimes we forget to enjoy the ride.

So here’s your reminder—and honestly, mine too—to slow down every once in a while, be present, take care of yourself, and remember that your well-being matters just as much as everything you’re working so hard for. ❤️
