Morning thoughts: 🤠 this isn’t aimed at anyone, just a general cluster of thoughts as we move through morning chores, and push through the extreme temperatures right now. We have an amazing group of boarders that we love, and we have had our share of others. This is just a small glimpse into the world of owning a barn.
The Barn Owner:
The barn owner is up early and in bed late.
The barn owner thinks of every horse as their own.
The barn owner worries non-stop.
The barn owner is tired, excited, happy and stressed all at the same time.
The barn owner shares years of acquired knowledge and experience and builds the next generation of horse loving enthusiasts, while respecting those who have more experience than them and asking for guidance.
The barn owner fights through the freezing temps, the blazing heat, the rain, snow and storms to feed, water and fix fence, check animals, and make every effort to make everyone comfortable at the expense of their own comfort.
The barn owner pulls people together, listens, loves and cares about everyone as they are family.
The barn owner is more than just the barn owner.
Their life’s savings has gone into purchasing, upkeeping, and building the property.
The barn owner checks on everyone horses and owners alike.
The barn owner shares their life with others.
The barn is more than just the barn. For many barn owners, it their home. For many barn owners they welcome you to their home as family. The barn is always more than just a barn.
It’s your home, it’s our home….
It’s home.
For many people this is a foreign concept, or strange. Some people feel like there are hidden motives behind the kindness, behind the love and the desire to see others succeed, but for many barn owners it’s simply holding the giving mindset: “if you have plenty, don’t build a wall, build a bigger table”. For many barn owners, it’s not to get rich, as we all know if you want to become a millionaire with horses, start with a billion.
All of that said: there will be people who take advantage of the love. People who take advantage of the kindness and the giving and many barn owners get burnt out if this industry simply because they’ve been burned too many times. Because they are tired of the aggressively demanding and selfish people who aren’t grateful for the hard work it takes to keep this business floating, let alone thriving. But through all that the barn owners always pushes through.
It’s a tough business. It’s an expensive business and it’s not an easy job. Your barn owner is always so much more than just “the barn owner”. We do it all for the love of all things horse. 🐎
