Ever focused on how to convince her parents to let her get a pet, she would check-out piles of books from the library on pet care, read budgets and supply lists from the humane society, and catch bugs,

caring for them as pets. When her dreams finally came true at fourteen – that is, a puppy made its way into her life – her calling to veterinary medicine was affirmed. Dr. Brenna pursued her post-secondary studies and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Calgary. Dr. Sakatch is certified in peaceful euthanasia through CAETA – she is immensely passionate about making pets have the most gentle passing possible. Having worked at a Fear-Free Certified practice, she came to the realization that despite improvements in patient comfort – nothing could compare with the comfort of being at home. Dr. Brenna is passionate about the emotional health of her patients. In addition to providing her services through Snowshoe Home Vet, she volunteers her time as a veterinarian with the Canadian Animal Task Force & Christian Veterinary Mission Canada. She lives in Olds with her husband, son, dog and cats.

🐾 A little invitation to remember the pets we've loved

I've been thinking about all of the incredible pets whose lives have been shared with me over the years. Some families have sent me beautiful stories and photos to remember their pets, while others never had the chance to do so. I know that sometimes, when you're grieving, the last thing you want to think about is writing an email or putting words together.

So, if you have a pet you'd like to remember and celebrate, I would love to invite you to share their story with me.

Your pet does not need to have been a patient of mine. If there is a special animal you'd like to honour, you are still welcome to submit their memorial.

You can send me:
a photo you'd like to share
their name
and as much or as little of their story as you'd like

You can email your submission to [email protected], and I'll add it to the memorials page on my website.

There is absolutely no pressure to share. Grief is personal, and some people find comfort in writing about their pets while others prefer to keep those memories private. Both are completely okay.

But if you've ever thought, “I should really write something about them,” this is your little invitation. I'd be honoured to help give your pet a place to be remembered.
