Behind Snowshoe Home Vet is just one veterinarian, and a whole lot of heart. 💙
Hi, I'm Dr. Brenna Sakatch, the veterinarian and owner behind Snowshoe Home Vet.
If you've found your way to my page, you probably know that I help families say goodbye to their beloved pets in the comfort of home. But I wanted to take a moment to share a little more about the person behind the practice, and why this work means so much to me.
I believe that saying goodbye to a pet should be as gentle and personal as the life you've shared together. For some pets, that means being curled up in their favourite bed. For others, it's lying in a sunny spot on the floor, stretched out on the couch, or surrounded by their family with an endless supply of treats. There's no perfect way to say goodbye, but there is something incredibly special about being able to do it in a place where your pet feels safe and loved.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is getting to know your pets through the stories you tell me. I hear about the dogs who have been by your side through every major milestone in life. The cats who ruled the household for nearly two decades. The mischievous puppies who grew into grey-faced seniors. The pets who were there through some of your hardest days, offering comfort simply by being present.
Sometimes we cry together. Sometimes we laugh about the trouble your pet used to get into. Sometimes there aren't any words at all, and that's okay too. Every family grieves differently, and every pet has a story worth honouring.
Although my visits often happen on one of the hardest days of a family's life, I consider it an incredible honour to be invited into your home during such a personal moment. My hope is always to make an impossibly difficult day just a little bit easier, giving you the time, space, and support you need to say goodbye in your own way.
Snowshoe Home Vet is a small, independently owned veterinary practice. When you reach out, it's me you're speaking with. And when the time comes for that final goodbye, it's me who will be there with you. To every family who has trusted me with their beloved companion, thank you. To those who have recommended my services, shared my posts, or taken the time to leave a kind review, please know how much it means to me and my little practice.
I know that nobody ever looks forward to needing my services. In fact, I hope that for most of you, that day is still many wonderful years away. But when the time does come, I hope you'll know that you have someone nearby who understands that this isn't "just a pet." It's family. And their goodbye matters. 💙
