🐱 Today is FIV Awareness Day 🐱

Did you know cats can carry Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) for years without showing any signs of illness?

FIV affects a cat’s immune system and is most commonly spread through bite wounds from an infected cat. Outdoor cats and cats who may encounter unfamiliar cats are at greater risk.

The good news? An FIV diagnosis does not mean a cat cannot live a happy, healthy life. With appropriate veterinary care, monitoring, and management, many FIV-positive cats enjoy many years of good quality of life. ❤️

We recommend FIV testing for cats when they are newly adopted, after potential exposure, when they become ill, and when their lifestyle puts them at increased risk. Testing is a simple blood test that can help you make informed decisions about your cat’s health and care.

🐾 Have questions about FIV or wondering if your cat should be tested? Give us a call! Our team would be happy to chat with you and help determine what’s appropriate for your feline family member.
