Today is a heavy day for our entire team.

Today is SAVE’s final day of emergency operations before our permanent closure.

To every person who walked through our doors and trusted us with a beloved member of your family — thank you. It has truly been an honour and a privilege to care for your pets.

We love what we do, we love this community, and saying goodbye is incredibly hard. Thank you to our clients, rescue partners and everyone who supported us along the way. We will never forget the kindness you’ve shown our team. ❤️

But before we say goodbye, we want one last happy day together.

🐾🎉 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY! 🎉🐾

From the staff at SAVE and our extremely hardworking, wildly underpaid canine management team. 😂

Today we celebrate the dogs who:
🐶 Eat things that absolutely were not food
🐶 Keep emergency vets employed with their questionable life choices
🐶 Bark at absolutely nothing
🐶 Require a full investigation before pooping
🐶 Shed enough hair to build several additional dogs
🐶 And somehow convince us that they deserve a treat after causing the problem.

Meanwhile, some of our staff pets will be celebrating International Dog Day the only way they know how:

✨ Being spoiled absolutely rotten
✨ Receiving snacks for existing
✨ Going for approximately 47 walks
✨ Stealing someone’s spot on the couch
✨ And contributing nothing financially to the household

Honestly… what a life. 😂

🚨🐱 FOUND A LOVING FUREVER HOME 🐱🚨

Well, this is awkward. 😂

A lovely Good Samaritan brought this sweet female DSH into SAVE today after finding her on Crystal Green Drive.

The plot twist? She looks suspiciously like the Good Samaritan’s OWN CAT… who is currently missing. 😭

For one brief, glorious moment: “OMG I FOUND MY CAT!”
Cat: “Ma’am, I have literally never seen you before in my life.”

We checked. No microchip. No tattoo. No ID. Just a very sweet little lady with absolutely zero interest in explaining herself.

She is friendly, adorable and quite pleasant… until you attempt to place her in a cat carrier.

Then she becomes an ungovernable woodland creature who has rejected domestication and chosen violence. 😂

Thankfully, her finder was kind enough to take her home and keep her safe while we search for her family. ❤️

2 TEENY FLOOFS ADOPTED!! 3 FLOOFS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH 🐱🚨

These 5 ridiculously adorable little kittens were surrendered to SAVE a few days ago, and we're looking for a foster home or rescue placement for them. 🥹❤️

They’re from 2 different litters, estimated to be about 6–10 weeks old, and are currently VERY busy with important kitten business:

🐾 Eating
🐾 Playing
🐾 Climbing things they probably shouldn't
🐾 Falling asleep approximately 4 seconds later
🐾 Being unbearably cute 😂

They do have a very mild upper respiratory infection — just a few little sniffles — but otherwise they’re doing great! They're eating, drinking, active and happy, and no medication is needed at this time. They just need to be monitored in case anything changes.

Because URIs can be contagious between cats, they’ll need a foster home with no other cats while they get over their little sniffles.

Basically, we need someone willing to temporarily turn their home into a tiny kitten daycare. 😂❤️

LOVING FUREVER FAMILY FOUND 💖

🚨 SIR. PLEASE EXPLAIN YOURSELF. 🚨🐱

This handsome neutered male DSH wandered into a Good Samaritan’s yard on Ranch Road in Okotoks and basically announced:

"Good news. You have a cat now." 😂

His finders kindly posted him online, although they accidentally called him a girl.

SAVE can officially confirm:

🍒 THE BERRIES HAVE BEEN CHECKED.
😂 HE IS A BOY.

BUT WAIT. IT GETS BETTER.

🎉 HE HAS A MICROCHIP!!!

We thought, FINALLY. An easy one.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

No.

📞 Called Owner #1: “Oh, I rehomed him.”
📞 Called Owner #2: “Oh, I rehomed him too.”
📞 Us: “Great! Who has him now?”
📞 Owner #2: “……I don't know.”

SIR.

This cat has changed ownership more times than a used Honda Civic. 😭😂

Meanwhile, he is completely unconcerned with our investigation. He is ridiculously friendly, loves ALL the attention, and has discovered tube treats, which he now believes are constitutionally protected.

So somewhere in Okotoks, Owner #3 is presumably missing a cat who has apparently been running his own witness protection program.

He's safe at SAVE for now. ❤️ If nobody claims this tiny international man of mystery, he will likely be transferred to Calgary Humane Society to help him find his next chapter.

We have a microchip, two former owners, absolutely no current owner and one tabby who refuses to cooperate with the investigation unless payment is made in Churu. 😂🐱

Our sweet Staffie boy Hippo is officially OVER kennel life. ⭐ Zero stars. Would not recommend. ⭐

With our upcoming closure only 2 weeks away, we are DESPERATELY searching for a foster home — but preferably a FUR-EVER HOME for this handsome little meatball. 🦛🐾❤️

🐾 ABOUT HIPPO:

• Estimated 4–5 years old
• Neutered & up to date on vaccines
• GIVES HUGS. Yes, actual Hippo hugs. 🥹
• LOVES people. Like… would crawl directly inside your hoodie if physics allowed it. 😂
• Plays nicely with cats AND dogs! 🐱🐶
• Gets along with most dogs, but definitely seems to prefer the ladies. Apparently Hippo is a bit of a ladies' man. 💅
• Happy, affectionate and ridiculously enthusiastic about life
• Strong boy who pulls on leash when excited — nobody has informed him he's not a sled dog 😂
• He does jump up when excited, so very small kiddos may not appreciate an unexpected Hippo hug
• A home with a big fenced yard or acreage would be AMAZING for this guy! 🌳🐾

Hippo doesn't need perfection. He just needs someone willing to give him a chance. ❤️

We would absolutely consider a foster home to get him out of the kennel, but what we REALLY want is to find this boy his person. His couch. His HOME. 🥹❤️

And if you've got an acreage? Hippo would like to formally apply for the position of Chief Acreage Supervisor. 😂🌾

🚨 EARLY CLOSURE TODAY – SATURDAY, AUGUST 15 🚨

We sincerely apologize, but due to several staff members being off sick combined with an already significant staffing shortage, SAVE will be closing early today at 4:00 PM.

We know how important it is to have emergency veterinary care available locally, and we are very sorry for any inconvenience or added stress this may cause.

💙 We will reopen tomorrow, Sunday, August 16, at 9:00 AM for regular business.
