A huge thank you to Daniel for raising an incredible $350 in support of the animals at HSOMH!💙

What makes this fundraiser so special is that Daniel planned and executed every detail himself! From designing and 3D-printing the keychains, to deciding where and how to sell them, to even creating a custom cash box that promoted HSOMH -- this project was entirely driven by his creativity, initiative, and compassion for animals.💪

We're continually inspired by young people like Daniel who use their talents to make a difference in their community. Thank you to Daniel for his generosity and for showing how much one person can accomplish when they're passionate about helping animals!

Kenny's Happy Tail!

Kenny’s story did not begin with certainty. Found as a stray and transferred to us through another organization, much of his past remains a mystery. What became clear very quickly, however, was that behind his intense eyes and larger-than-life personality was an incredibly intelligent, affectionate dog desperately searching for connection, purpose, and stability.

Shelter life was not easy for Kenny (formerly Robbie). He is the kind of dog who feels things deeply - the kind who thrives when he has structure, routine, enrichment, and people he can trust. While he loved his squeaky toys, stuffies, and training sessions, the busy shelter environment often left him overwhelmed. Even then, his goofy personality would shine through in quiet moments with staff and volunteers.🥹

Kenny needed more than just a home. He needed understanding. He needed experienced people willing to continue helping him navigate the world while appreciating all the wonderful things that make him who he is.

And then Susan and Nick came along.
Experienced German Shepherd owners living on a large rural property, Susan and Nick saw exactly what Kenny needed - space to decompress, people committed to ongoing training, and a calm environment where he could finally exhale. They understood that smart dogs need jobs, enrichment, and patience. They saw beyond the challenges and recognized the incredibly loyal, loving companion underneath.

Now, instead of kennel walls and noisy hallways, Kenny has room to stretch his legs, explore safely, and settle into a routine designed just for him. He has people who understand his need for both mental and physical exercise, who respect his sensitivities, and who are committed to helping him continue building confidence.

For a dog who once had an uncertain future, Kenny’s next chapter is exactly what we hoped for: experienced adopters, a peaceful rural home, and a family ready to love him for the wonderfully complex, goofy, brilliant dog he is.
Congratulations to Kenny and his new family💙

Meet Dolly 💕

Dolly is the kind of dog who makes friends wherever she goes. Sweet, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented, this lovely 7-year-old girl absolutely adores attention and would be happiest spending her days soaking up pets, praise, and quality time with her favourite humans. She's also a fan of toys (especially stuffies), and is always willing to learn when high-value treats are involved!🍖

Life can still feel a little overwhelming for Dolly at times. New places and unfamiliar situations can make her anxious, and she's likely missed out on some important life experiences along her journey. Because of this, she's looking for a patient family who can provide the structure, routine, and encouragement she needs to continue building confidence.

Dolly would thrive in a 14+ home committed to helping her learn the ropes, from leash skills to housetraining and everything in between. A secure fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus, giving her a safe space to decompress, explore, and gain confidence at her own pace.
If you're looking for a sweet companion and would love to help a deserving dog discover just how wonderful life can be, Dolly might be your perfect match. 🥹

A big thank you to Isla, one of our Kindness Club alumni, for raising funds in support of the animals at HSOMH by selling freezies at her school!🍧

We're always inspired by young kids who turn their compassion into action, and Isla's dedication to helping animals is a wonderful example of the kindness we love to see in our community.

Every dollar raised will help provide care, comfort, and second chances to the animals who rely on us, and we're so grateful that Isla chose to make a difference for them. We're so proud to have Isla as part of the HSOMH family!💙

Spending time with rabbits is one of the many perks of volunteering at HSOMH, and Nabeelah (one of our amazing volunteer bunny socializers) would probably agree!

Rabbits are intelligent, social, and full of personality. They can form strong bonds with their people, learn routines, enjoy enrichment activities, and bring endless joy to a home. Whether they're zooming around, flopping over for a nap, or gently nudging you for attention, rabbits have a special way of making you smile.🥹

If you're considering adding a pet to your family, we hope you'll consider a rabbit. These wonderful companions have so much love to give and are often overlooked despite making incredible pets for the right home.

Take a look at our adoptable rabbits at hsomh.ca/smallanimals

Thank you to Nabeelah for helping care for our bunnies, and for sharing adorable photos to show their personalities!💙

Ernie's Happy Tail!

Ernie is doing wonderfully in his new home. He's adjusted well, and although he was nervous around his dog roommate at first, they are now the best of friends! Ernie fits right in.

Ernie's adopters shared that they are thankful for all the work we do at HSOMH.

Congratulations to Ernie and his new family! 💙
