🐴 Fun Horse Fact 🐴
One of the questions we hear most often is:
“Where do horses sleep?”
Horses can actually doze while standing up thanks to a special system in their legs that allows them to relax without falling over.
But for deep sleep, horses need to lie down.
Because horses are prey animals, herd members often rest at different times. While some horses are lying down sleeping, others may remain standing and alert, helping the herd stay aware of its surroundings.
So if you ever see a horse stretched out in a pasture, don’t panic—they may just be enjoying a well-deserved nap! 😴
Did you know horses can sleep both standing up and lying down?
