With several veterinarians on staff it is our privilege to provide you with prompt courteous service to assess and treat your animals needs. For the pets in your life, we offer personalized vaccination program, medicine, surgery, dentistry, nutritional and behavioural consultation. We provide in clinic and on farm veterinary services for your horses which include preventative health care, pre-purchase exams, sport horse medicine, surgery, dentistry, lameness and reproduction. Our dairy and beef client service includes reproductive herd health with or without the ultrasound, herd based vaccination programs and individual animal medical and surgical care. Llamas, alpacas and other livestock receive veterinary services that focus on preventative herd and individual healthcare both medical and surgical. In addition to an in house lab, we offer diagnostic services that includes ultrasonography, digital radiology, thermography and endoscopy.

If we have the chance to cuddle a dog, you better believe we’re gonna take it 🥹

This sweet moment was captured when RVT Carly joined Gus for some extra cuddles while he recovered from sedation after his 8-week post-operative TPLO X-rays and recheck with Dr. Marks.

Gus had undergone a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) to treat a torn cranial cruciate ligament, and this follow-up appointment allowed Dr. Marks to assess his healing and progress.

Of course, making sure Gus felt safe and comfortable while he woke up was just as important and Carly was happy to provide the cuddles. 💙

Some days, happiness really is as simple as a wagging tail, a happy greeting at the door, or a dog who somehow knows exactly when you need a little extra love.

Dogs have a pretty special way of making ordinary moments better, and they make it very easy to love them right back.

This Sunday is World Animal Day, a day dedicated to celebrating animals and recognizing the important role they play in our lives and communities. 🌎🐾

We work with and care for so many incredible animal species here at Central Vet, so we thought we’d start spreading the love a little early with one that brightens our days in some of the simplest, and often silliest, ways.

Here’s to the dogs who make us laugh, keep us company, get us outside, cover us in hair, and make life a whole lot better. ❤️

8 weeks old and already stealing so many hearts! 💛

Meet Lily, an adorable yellow Labrador Retriever who came to see Dr. Tod for her very first puppy exam.

Here’s something that surprises a lot of new puppy owners: one puppy visit isn’t the end of the story! Puppies typically need a series of wellness visits and vaccinations as they grow because the antibodies they receive from their mom can interfere with how their early vaccines work.

Those first appointments are also about so much more than vaccines. They’re a chance to check growth and development, talk nutrition and parasite prevention, answer the many questions that come with a new puppy, and help set them up for a healthy start. 🐶

We may leave the clinic at the end of the day, but that doesn’t mean we stop thinking about you. 🤍

Sometimes you drive home wondering if the dog who wouldn’t eat finally had dinner or whether the nervous cat settled once she got home.

And sometimes, you’re thinking about the people.

You wonder how quiet their house feels. You hope they know they made the right decision. You hope they know they did everything they could. You wonder how the kids are handling saying goodbye.

Because veterinary medicine has never been just about the animals.

We get to know the people who love them, too. We celebrate the good news with you, worry alongside you, and remember the ones we’ve had to say goodbye to.

So yes, we go home at the end of the day. But sometimes, a little piece of the day comes home with us. 🤍

September 28th is World Rabies Day 🐾💉, an important reminder that while rabies may not be something we think about every day, prevention still matters.

Rabies is a fatal disease that can affect both animals and people, and it is still present here in Manitoba. Rabies continues to be detected in wildlife, particularly bats and skunks, which means even pets who spend most of their time indoors or close to home can potentially be exposed.

The good news? Vaccination is one of the most important ways we can protect our pets against rabies. ❤️

World Rabies Day is a great opportunity to check your pet’s vaccination records and make sure they’re up to date. During a wellness exam, our veterinary team can also review your pet’s lifestyle and recommend any other important vaccines or preventive care they may need.

As a Feline Friendly Certified veterinary practice, we know cats aren’t just small dogs, and their vet visits shouldn’t be treated that way either. From how they’re handled to the environment around them, tailoring appointments to the unique needs of cats can make a big difference in their experience. 💙
