🐾 IT’S TIME TO PROTECT ISLAND COMPANION ANIMALS! 🐾
We have an active petition calling for change, and we are featured in a brand-new CBC article detailing our fight! Our founder, Karla Shalley, speaks out about the urgent need for provincial legislation to hold breeders accountable. We are working directly with Green Party MLA Peter Bevan-Baker to present this petition to the provincial government this fall.
We are demanding 5 key measures to protect Island companion animals:
1️⃣ Mandatory Licensing – Knowing exactly who is breeding companion animals.
2️⃣ Enforceable Standards of Care – Ensuring safe, clean environments.
3️⃣ Routine Inspections – Real oversight to ensure rules are followed.
4️⃣ Traceability – Clear record-keeping for every animal bred and sold.
5️⃣ Strict Enforcement – Real consequences for breeders who break the law. Our province lags behind the rest of Canada on this issue, and our animals are paying the price. We need a final push of signatures before the legislative session begins this fall!
