🍂 WEEK 4 - Patient Care & Nursing - Featuring Rebecca! 🍂

This week, we're highlighting Becca, who has been a veterinary technician for 24 years!

One of the most important jobs a vet tech does happens after the examination or procedure... caring for the patient. ❤️

Vet techs monitor hospitalized and recovering patients, administer medications and treatments, monitor vital signs, provide nursing care and make sure patients are comfortable. Sometimes, that also means providing plenty of puppy and kitten snuggles! 🐶🐱

And that's actually one of Becca's favourite parts of the job!

🐾 Get to know Rebecca:
• Favourite part of being a vet tech? Puppy & kitten snuggles and nursing sick pets back to health. ❤️
• Favourite animal? Dogs. 🐕
• Most unusual animal she's worked with? Chameleons! 🦎
• Dream pet? A koala. 🐨
• Favourite fall activity? Taking nature walks through the crunchy leaves. 🍁
• Favourite Halloween candy? Fuzzy Peaches! 🍑
• And she says she can't live without dogs and chocolate. 🐶🍫

Whether they're recovering from surgery, staying in hospital or simply need a little extra TLC, our vet techs are there to make sure our patients feel safe and cared for.

Sometimes the most important medicine is a little patience, nursing care and a whole lot of love. ❤️🐾

🎉🐾 HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY, SABLE! 🐾🎉

Sable is sassy, always on the hunt for her next snack, and never afraid to remind us all who REALLY runs the clinic. Whether she’s supervising from her favourite spot or making sure nobody forgets to feed her (as if she’d ever let that happen!), she keeps us all in line.

Help us wish our queen of the clinic a very happy 8th birthday!🎂

Happy Birthday, Sable! May your day be filled with treats, cuddles (on your terms, of course), and all the attention you know you deserve!

Today we're featuring one of our staff members pets! Say hello to Timbit! She is our receptionist, Jess’s, adorable 4-year-old calico! Timbit first came into Jess's life as a stray who found her way to NVS and lucky for her, she ended up finding her forever home with Jess!

This little calico is a professional bird watcher, sunbeam chaser, and neighborhood watch officer. She loves curling up in sunny spots, carrying her stuffed toys around the house, and chasing her favorite crinkly ball. And if Jess hears a little chirping coming from the window, she doesn't worry. Timbit is just having a very important conversation with the birds!

Her favorite sound? The shake of the treat bag! Her favorite person? Whoever is opening the treat container… but apparently mostly Jess’s husband!

Timbit may be a mostly-couch-potato cat, but she takes her nightly house patrols very seriously. And while she may be excellent at finding the coziest hiding spots, she's not quite as good at looking innocent after causing a little chaos!

Jess says her favorite thing about Timbit is her goofy personality, and we can certainly see why!

🍁 WEEK 3 - Laboratory & Diagnostics - Featuring Sue 🍁

This week we're celebrating Sue, who has an incredible 42 years of experience as a veterinary technician! 🐾

One of the many important jobs vet techs do is laboratory work and diagnostics. From collecting and preparing samples to running blood, urine and f***l testing, veterinary technicians help provide veterinarians with important information about what's happening inside your pet. 🔬🩸

Sue says her favourite tasks are surgery and lab work, so this is definitely an area where she has plenty of experience!

🐾 Meet Sue:
• Favourite part of being a vet tech? Helping make pets feel better. ❤️
• Favourite animal? Horses. 🐴
• Most unusual animals she's worked with? A lynx, iguanas and snakes! 🐍
• Dream pet? A chameleon. 🦎
• Outside of work, Sue enjoys tap dancing! 💃
• Her favourite thing about October? The fall colours. 🍂
• And her hidden talent? A mean tennis serve... partly because she's a lefty! 🎾

After 42 years, Sue has certainly seen a little bit of everything!

From the exam room to the laboratory, our vet techs are an important part of your pet's healthcare team. 🐾

🎃 WEEK 2 - Surgery & Catheter Placement - Featuring Lauren!🎃

This week we're introducing you to Lauren, who has been part of the veterinary technician world for 1.5 years!

Vet techs are an important part of every surgical team. They help prepare patients for surgery, place IV catheters, prepare equipment, assist the veterinarian, monitor patients under anesthesia and provide care during recovery. 🩺💉

Lauren says her favourite tasks at the clinic are placing catheters and helping with surgery!

🐾 A few fun facts about Lauren:
• Her favourite part of being a vet tech is making connections with pets and their owners. ❤️
• The most unusual animal she's worked with was a budgie! 🐦
• If she could have any animal as a pet, she'd choose a Highland cow. 🐮
• Outside the clinic, Lauren loves sports... any sport! 🏒⚽🏈
• And she says she couldn't live without her dogs. 🐶

We're so happy Lauren is part of our NVS team!

There is a lot more to surgery than what happens inside the operating room and our vet techs are there every step of the way! ❤️
