Poor-quality socialization can create long-term fear.

Avoid:
* Dog parks
* Overwhelming pet store visits
* Forced greetings
* Crowded events
* Rough puppy play
* Aversive corrections/yelling

The quality of exposure matters far more than quantity.

Are you providing everything your dog needs

The Hierarchy of Dog Needs
Biological Needs: Food, water, air, shelter, sleep, and medical care (vaccines, healthy weight).
Safety Needs: Security, freedom from fear, and protection from harm (safe environment, pain-free handling).
Love and Belongingness Needs: Social connection, including human companionship, touch (petting, grooming), and friendship.
Esteem Needs: Behavioral training (structure and boundaries) and mental stimulation to build confidence, rather than just obedience.
Self-Actualization Needs (Top): Allowing dogs to be dogs, which includes breed-specific behaviors (sniffing, fetching), play, and choices.
