I can’t believe it’s been 2.5 years since Echo’s surgery!
It was dicey AF at the time. The chances for success were unstable at best, with file transfers being sent across Ontario to emergency vets, and driving 5 hours to get him help and hoping he would pull through. (And the vet losing said file AND the booking when we got there!)
The emergency vet in Ottawa not believing Echo could have a ruptured gallbladder/etc because he had been playing fetch the day before, and walked into the building in a heel when we got there so they said they would double check. Came back out after with VERY different expressions and rushing. 😂🤷 He was a little trooper in there, listened so well and was so calm they were able to release him days early. And by the next day he was trying to play fetch again. 😑 Cattle dogs. 🤷😂
I’m so grateful for all the extra time I’ve gotten with my little old man. After everything he’s done for me as my service dog, he'll get to retire and spend his days with his girlfriend next door (a very aloof husky, and they just love each other 😂). Though he says he’s not retiring any time soon. 😂 Echo's old age is more like occasionally he takes a nap now. As far as I know, cattle dogs don't believe in "aging".
Forever thankful to Parkside Animal Hospital for doing everything they could to save my little dude!
Echo turns 11 in August!
