Let’s talk broodmares!
I am very new to the breeding industry, but here what I see so many times over and over again
When do broodmares stop being performance horses? I’m not talking about performing in competitive sports but they perform! They create life, they produce the next up comers the future of the industry. Yet their feet are in poor condition even when they are expected to carry the extra weight, teeth are not taken care of even when they are eating for two, body condition is poor either overweight or underweight (it goes both ways) and then question why they aren’t catching. Poor handling skills, you wouldn’t let your competition horse run you over or kick and bite you, yet you send them to breeders and put someone else’s life and lively hood at risk.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR MARES! You are responsible for putting the mare in that position so you are responsible for taking care of her, good mares make better babies💜
