☀️ HAPPY JUNE! ☀️

With the warmer weather finally here, our pets are spending way more time outdoors exploring. But did you know that June is National Microchipping Month? 🔍🐱🐶

Summer means open doors, backyard barbecues, and busy trails—making it the prime season for pets to accidentally wander off. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, takes seconds to implant, and is often the only reason a lost pet safely makes it back to their family.

👇 Drop a picture of your furry co-pilot in the comments below, and let us know where your favorite summer hangout spot is! ☀️

Luca was a purr-fect administrative assistant today! 😍

We had some extra help at the desk today when this cutie decided the office chair belonged to him. He was a total rockstar, loved watching the world go by out the car window on the ride home, and is now sleeping like a champ.

We love making our patients feel right at home.💕

🐾 🚨 TICK ALERT: It’s Not Just Lyme Disease Anymore! 🚨 🐾

While most pet parents know about Lyme disease, there is another serious tick-borne illness rising fast in Nova Scotia: Anaplasmosis.

Both diseases are transmitted by the tiny blacklegged deer tick, which is highly active right now across our province.
Ticks can carry both bacteria at the same time, meaning a single bite can co-infect your pup.

🔍 What is Anaplasmosis?
Like Lyme disease, it is a bacterial infection. The tricky part? The symptoms look almost identical to Lyme, and some dogs show no signs at all until they are very sick.

⚠️ Watch for these warning signs:
•Lethargy or sudden laziness
•Fever or loss of appetite
•Stiff, sore, or swollen joints (shifting lameness)
•Reluctance to move

🛡️ How to protect your pet:
•Annual 4Dx Testing: We recommend a quick annual blood test that screens for Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Heartworm all at once. Early detection saves lives!
•Strict Prevention: Use veterinarian-approved tick preventatives year-round or as directed by our team.
•Daily Tick Checks: Run your hands over your pet every single time they come inside, paying close attention to ears, toes, underarms, and groins.

If your pet is due for their annual appointment or needs a refill on their tick prevention, give us a call to book an appointment! 🐶✨
