What does “MCWF” mean?

Mycobacterium Cell Wall Fraction (MCWF) is the active ingredient in Immunocidin®. MCWF stimulates the immune response, including activation of macrophages and lymphocytes involved in fighting tumor cells.

Research continues to explore the immunomodulatory properties of MCWF and its interaction with the canine immune system.

A cancer diagnosis can leave dog owners searching for information with many questions to ask their veterinary team.

Immunocidin® is currently approved for the intratumoral treatment of mixed mammary tumors and mammary adenocarcinoma in dogs, but research has extended into other areas of canine oncology. Studies have explored its use in dogs with cancers including lymphoma, osteosarcoma and transitional cell carcinoma.

While these additional applications remain investigational, continued research helps veterinarians learn more about where immunotherapy may have a role in canine cancer care.

For dog owners, that means the science continues to move forward, building our understanding of immunotherapy and its potential applications in veterinary oncology.

Routine examinations and early conversations help ensure your veterinary team has the information needed to determine appropriate next steps for treatment.
