My very first pig was Izzy (Esmerelda I recently found out was her real name). Anyhow, Izzy is sweet. She was a lone wolf for a couple years until miss Stella came. Miss Stella should be renamed Boss Pig, well, because she is bossy. Izzy does whatever she does and Stella would steal Izzyโs food when she first came. For a pot bellied pig, Stella is quick! And Izzy knows it. Soooo miss Izzy has had to come up with creative ways to address things. For example- if Izzy was trying to eat and Stella attempted to steal food, Izzy would come tattle on her and I would stand in between. Izzy knows I will go to bat for her. However, Izzy is smart when I am not around. She will run outside and follow me like I was bringing a treat in so Stella would quickly follow behind, Izzy would then run at an alarming rate (something so short to the ground and round should not be able to run so fast), and she would wolf down her food. Smart. I digress, on to the point of my story... in the last few weeks the melting snow has caused my mini pig barn to flood. With such little babies, I didnโt want to take chances so they took up residence on the other side of Stella and Izzyโs barn. Izzy was not happy. Izzy likes peace and quiet. I am sure she thinks the babies are out to also steal her food. So careful introductions happened and all is well, Izzy just keeps her distance. This morning I opened up the back barn door and left it open so the pigs could come in out of the rain. Went in to do the next feeding and visit and Izzy went back in the barn, pushed the door closed and pushed a weighted piece of wood against the door so it wouldnโt open from the outside. So I of course felt terrible when I saw my piggies had been out in the rain all day. All except Izzy. Know how I know she did this?????? Tonight I went in the barn and caught her doing it as all the pigs but her ran outside. So when someone tells me their dog is smart, I can guarantee that I can find a pig smarter!! Side note- mr peanut came in soaked to the bone and when wet he shows the coolest markings. All his white hair covers it when dry. Tonight, Izzy sleeps alone. Just the way she likes it. Miss Stella was laying with her adopted babies when I left. I think she thinks she is their mama. Izzy is like the aunt that hates kids and vows to never have any. ๐๐๐๐ท๐ท๐ท๐ท๐ท
