Carter's Forever Rescue & Sanctuary Carter's is a non-profit animal rescue dedicated to finding safe, loving homes for all dogs regardless Carter's Rescue is a registered Canadian Charity.

Our registration number is 80997 5394 RR0001. Situated on 10 beautiful acres, nestled in the woods right in the middle of cottage country, we are approximately 15 minutes outside of Bracebridge, Ontario. We are committed to finding loving, forever homes for dogs of all sizes, breeds and ages. Carter was an amazing dog, who happened to be a Pit Bull, and who was brought to us for boarding. With the personal situation Carter’s owner was going through, he just never returned to take him back. Carter lived his life out with us here. Carter’s situation started us on a new venture and passion. Making sure all surrendered dogs, regardless of breed, are in safe, loving and caring homes. Dogs that are hard to place due to breed or age will always have a retirement home with us to allow them to live out their lives happy, properly treated and cared for. We are a non-profit organization which relies solely on public donations and volunteers. We will NOT adopt into a home with unaltered pets (dogs/cats). We require an adoption application filled out and then an appointment made to see our dogs. "Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog the world will forever change."

We are in need of linens. We use all, except pillows or pillow cases, these 2 things we do not use. Any other linens can be bagged and dropped off at the bin located at the Royal Lepage building in Bracebridge. The bin is in the far corner of the park lot. Thank you

Kevin isn’t quite 3 years old yet but he’s already spent nearly 2 years waiting for a home, and with only ONE meet and greet in that time💔

We can't quite figure out how this goofy guy keeps getting overlooked.

Kevin is a Boxer/Boston Terrier mix with so much love to give, and we're just waiting for someone to give him a chance.

He's full of personality, loves his toys, and would be perfectly happy hanging out by your side, playing with his favourites. He's a goofy guy, but that's just Kevin! ❤️

Kevin knows his manners, but he'll need someone willing to reinforce them and provide some consistency. He's a smart boy who just needs the right person to help him be his best self.

Older children would be best for Kevin. He can be selective with other dogs and has not been cat tested.

Kevin has spent almost two-thirds of his life waiting for a family to call his own. He doesn't need a perfect home. He just needs someone willing to see the wonderful dog he is and give him the chance he deserves.

This handsome 7/8 year old chocolate Lab is the definition of a laidback dude. Easygoing, sweet and always up for a little fun!

He has recently lost 15-20lbs and we may be biased but we think he’s looking pretty good🫶🏻

Breeze is good with other dogs, great with kids and not cat tested. He loves his toys and would be pretty happy with someone who wants to play with him, hang out and make him part of the family.

He’s got the perfect mix of chill and playful, and we think he’s pretty darn special. Now he just needs someone to see it too. 🥰

8 years young and still full of energy! This adorable Pomeranian mix has plenty of pep in his step and so much love to give. ❤️

Lukie is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves being close to his person. He loves going for walks, exploring the world around him, and will happily soak up all the pets and attention you have to offer.

He's dog friendly, would do best in a home with older children, and has not been cat tested.

And did we mention… he speaks French?! 🇫🇷 Oui oui! This little gentleman has a few tricks up his sleeve!

Lukie is ready to find his forever home with someone who enjoys a good walk followed by some quality cuddle time. 🐶❤️

Meet Sasha 💕🐾

It truly doesn't get much sweeter than this girl.

Sasha is a beautiful 5-year-old Rough Collie, and when we say she has an amazing temperament, we mean it. She's naturally gentle, affectionate, laid-back, and just so easy to love.

Sasha is happiest being close to her people. If there's a spot beside you on the couch, that's exactly where she'd like to be. She simply wants to cuddle up and soak in all the love she can get.

She's wonderful with other dogs, and with her incredibly sweet and easygoing nature, we think she would be amazing in a home with children. She hasn't been cat tested, but given her gentle personality, we don't anticipate cats being an issue.

There really isn't much we can say about Sasha's temperament that isn't positive. She's one of those special dogs who makes you fall in love with her almost immediately.

After spending her life being used for breeding, it's finally Sasha's turn to be someone's cherished family member. To have a home, a comfortable place to sleep, and people to call her own.

An important note about Sasha: She has tested positive for two copies of the MDR1 gene variant, which can cause serious sensitivities to certain medications. Her future family will need to be aware of this and work closely with their veterinarian. We strongly encourage anyone interested in adopting Sasha to research MDR1 and understand what it means for her lifelong care. SASHA’S PAPERWORK HAS COME BACK POSITIVE ON BOTH GENETIC MARKERS

This 5-month-old Bully/Rottweiler mix is cute as a button and full of puppy personality! 🐾 Josie is a playful, happy little girl who absolutely loves people and is always ready to make a new friend.

She’s got lots of puppy love to give and is looking for a family to grow up with, teach her all the things and give her a lifetime of adventures.

Did we mention how adorable she is? 🥰

Foster-to-Adopt Requirements:

• She will remain in foster care until her vetting and spay are completed. Once everything is done, the adoption will be finalized.
• Her foster family must be able to bring her to our vet for scheduled appointments until her adoption is finalized.
• Someone must be home most of the day. Josie is still very young and cannot be left alone for long periods.
