๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿพ June 14 is World Blood Donor Day ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฉธ

Today, we're celebrating the heroes who help save lives through blood donation, including our incredible four-legged donors! โค๏ธ

Just like people, pets can require life-saving blood transfusions during emergencies, surgeries, treatment for certain illnesses, and trauma cases. When a pet needs blood, there is no substitute. That's why every donation truly counts.

At the Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador, our Pet Blood Donor Program helps ensure that blood is available when patients need it most.

Thanks to the generosity of our donor pets and their families, we can provide critical care to animals across the province.

๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ Could your pet be a hero?
We are always looking for healthy dogs and cats who may qualify to join our donor program.
Every donation counts. Every donor matters. Every drop can help save a life.

Today, we're celebrating the special bond between pets and the people who love them.

Whether they're greeting you at the door after a long day, joining you on adventures, curling up beside you on the couch, or simply making you smile when you need it most, our pets are so much more than animals, they're family, companions, and often our very best friends.

๐Ÿพ Anna Update! ๐Ÿพ

We are so happy to share that Anna is continuing to do very well following her cervical spine surgery! ๐Ÿ’™ Take a look at the before and after video!

Each day she is getting a little stronger, more confident, and more comfortable as she continues her recovery journey. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding for both her family and our team.

Recovery from spinal surgery is a gradual process that takes patience, rehabilitation, and lots of support, but Anna continues to show us just how resilient she is.

Thank you again to Annaโ€™s dedicated family for trusting us with her care, and to the incredible VSC team who came together to support her every step of the way.

Way to go, Anna! ๐Ÿถโœจ

๐Ÿพ May is Arthritis Awareness Month ๐Ÿพ

Did you know arthritis is one of the most common chronic conditions we see in pets, especially as they age? The tricky part is that our pets are often very good at hiding their pain.

Signs of arthritis can include:
๐Ÿ• Difficulty Rising, Laying Down or Climbing Stairs
๐Ÿˆ Behavioral Changes - Litter Box Issues, Hiding, Irritability
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Stiffness - Especially after getting up
๐Ÿ˜ฃ Decreased Activity
๐Ÿ’” Reluctance to Jump Onto Surfaces
๐ŸฑOvergrooming or Licking a Particular Area

Early detection can make a huge difference in your petโ€™s comfort and quality of life. If you notice any of these signs, donโ€™t wait, check in with your veterinarian!

And keep an eye out over the coming months to see how weโ€™ll be helping support our arthritic patients ๐Ÿ‘€โค๏ธ
